This was a blast and completely unexpected!

The original plan was to head out to the sunset and photograph my daughter with a bow and arrow. Of course I waited until the last day, had a conflict and got to the sunset after the sun was down. Which really isn't an issue. But the only place to get the sunset is a park that closes at sunset.

It was closed.

So I asked my daughter if she wanted to go straight home or take the long, scenic route and look for deer and rabbits. We took the long route.

And then we saw the tunnel!

I love this tunnel!! It's actually quite short, but I love the lighting and what it does to the walls -- but I've never photographed it before.

I said "The tunnel! I could stick you in front of on coming traffic!"

She responded: "I could do that!!"

It was a blast. I didn't have a tripod, so I had to bump up the ISO. We both went into the middle of the street. I told her to do whatever she wanted. She danced, she jumped, she did rag doll. All the while we were dodging cars going in and out of the tunnel. Unfortunately, I didn't have the ISO high enough for the dancing scenes. So it narrowed down the selection. I like this one the best. But this was also a fav:

One extra note that made the night even more enjoyable:

When I was little, my dad always honked the car horn when going through tunnels. We all loved it when he did it. As we got older, it happened less and less, simply because the tunnel had more and more traffic. (You don't honk the horn when cars are close by. Road rage just isn't worth the fun of honking! :) And it was something I missed.

I'd say about 30% of the cars that went through the tunnel that night honked their horns!

Life is good!!

Thanks for the wonderful comments.

This is the type of thing that keeps me at DPC -- the unexpected, fun times that happen when I go out to shoot something that I probably wouldn't have shot if it weren't for a challenge. My family and I have had some fun and unique adventures because of DPC.

There definitely needs to be more honking in the world :) Excellent image, well done! I do like the colouring and the shapes the lights make on the walls.

Congrats for the red on a marvelous "out of the box" for your normal style of shooting image. You had a great time that you and your daughter can remember all your lives.
The last sentence in your description comments is true for me as well. Well said.

This is a great concept with nice lighting and beautiful lines. The model is well placed so the curved lines of the tunnel to lead the eye into the distance. Her shadow makes great shapes on the pavement. The only thing I don't like is that the pose makes her feet look a little odd, but that's a minor nit-pick.

well done. Not sure about the "jazz hands" but I suppose it adds intrigue in a James Bond Dancing opening sequence way.
