I am just elated..... this is my first ribbon.

This photo was taken during our local summerfest / Canada day celebrations. I had set up my camera on the ground to take multiple shots of the fireworks. The couple nearby just happened to sit still long enough for a sharp capture. This was the only shot out of a dozen or so that was useable.

Postprocessing was mostly done with lightroom:
Adjusted highlights and shadows, contrast, and did some local white balance adjustments on couple due to overhead sodium lights, noise reduction and saturation adjustments. added vignetting

Thanks to all who voted and for the encouraging comments.

Some photographer. Holding each other rather than the camera. Nice job.

My favourite of the bunch if this slow shutter could capture the audiences so sharp. It's just the reddish part of fireworks need further fine tuning. Anyway, it's a decent shot and well done. Good luck!

Who puts their camera behind them in the dark of a fireworks show? Great way to get it stolen!

But besides that, this is a wonderful image. You can feel the joy in these people's hearts as they watch the show.

Nice streaking on the fireworks. great colours all flowing together in there.
Can't criticize the minor motion given the duration of the capture. 8 from me.

One of my favorite type of newspaper assignments is to capture "wild art", which is defined as "Stand-Alone, Feature Shot, Enterprise art are found moments that are intended to be realistic slices of everyday life" (definition taken from this glossary). These are typically images that caption themselves, not needing a lot of words to get their point across. For this challenge, I'm scoring images as whether I'd like to see them on the front page of a paper as feel good wild art. If I don't think they would make the paper, I'm then asking myself, "does it make me feel good?" If it doesn't do much for me, well then, oh well...

Nicely observed! Absolutely front page material.
