Huge thanks to my daughter and husband!! We had only a very short period of time in which to shoot, and a very short beach on which to shoot.

But we had a blast!

This is the type of photo that I'd love to create. I love the tones on this and the feel of it. Now I just have to figure out what it was that I did... :)

Thanks for all the wonderful comments!

Oh, and btw, the horizon is straight. It's only because the trees go downhill that it doesn't look straight. (a couple of people mentioned that perhaps I should crop off the horizon, but I wanted more of a sense of space. But the horizon even fooled me -- I kept trying to straighten it.)

oh well. :)

I'm glad for your high score on this image, Wendy. I know how much it means to you, and I hope you get to make many more with this kind of light.

When i have tricky horizon like that I sometimes rotate it back and forth a settle on the most pleasing composition to the eye, even if the real horizon is then off.

I really like the way the light works here. The designs in the sand create interest, but the lighter color is really what sets a positive tone. The water seems dark and the sky darker still, but we see a lighted foreground and a playful designer in a white dress. It conjures thoughts of hope in the face of adversity. Great capture!

I just love this one but find myself wishing the distant horizon was straight so I could focus on the lovely foreground and that delightful girl. I can feel the waves lapping her bare feet. Great colors and light. 9
eta: Ouch - you are so right. The horizon is straight. I had to stand up and look down on the image to see the trees and the real horizon. Sorry.

Love the title and use of minimal comp with your human subject.

Nice image. The contrast between the sand patterns, sea and horizon is a bit too loud. I think a little more light on the sea and the sky should have helped the image
