 Very conflicted about which image to enter. I've changed this out 3 times already. But I knew I wanted to enter something from my Mojave adventure. These were the other two options:
. For me, choosing the right image is the hardest thing about DPC challenges.

All three were taken on the last day of my last visit to the Mojave. This one is technically outside the park, in the same area where I took this image. Amazing the things you find in the middle of nowhere.

The corral was taken on the way out of the park, on a road through the northeastern quadrant of the preserve, which we hadn't yet explored. Unlike the other main roads, there were barely ANY dirt roads leading off it for exploring. Just immense expanses of emptiness. Suddenly there was a graffiti-covered water tank, and next to it, this corral; the late afternoon sun created the spectacular shadows. At the "hub" is a metal tub/trough.

The water tank likewise appeared out of nowhere as we came over a ridge on one of the myriad of dirt roads we traveled, and seemed to be summoning the clouds to it.

what a dramatic and powerful image johanna .. i love how that hub or whatever it is is almost 3D .. a wonderful catch and i love love love your processing .. !!.. :)

interesting setting, the wire spool is a distraction but it makes this more than just a landscape.

Nice find and choice of composition. I find the sky's color to be a bit unsettling, but other than that I like it.
