Nope -- this isn't expert editing, even though my raindrops look like they're falling up.

The problem is that the rain is lit from behind. Which is ok. But if it's lit by flash, not ambient light, and the shutter speed is set to 1/60 sec, then it looks like the rain is falling up.

Had I noticed, I could have used a 2nd curtain flash, but that probably would still look funky. The rain should all be the same width!

We just don't have much strong directional light on the deck.

It may not be expert editing, but it is fake rain. It's the garden hose with a fan spray head on it.

I had another shot that I really liked:



It was a hard decision. But I liked moment in this one.

I love this because I remember doing it. It's good to 'feel' something when you 'see' someone's art.

I really like the composition as well as the joy of this shot. I feel it would have even worked better if the rain you have created (an subsumption) was opposite so to appear more as falling instead of rising. Still, very nice.

I really love this photo - it's in my top 5 - I have to tell you, though - it looks like the rain is faling upwards. Which added to the overall interest of the picture. Just really liked it - and I thought it was a great representation of the challenge.
