I set this up outside to take advantage of the natural daylight. I pulled the unexposed film out of the canister and worked hard to keep it from winding itself back up around itself. I set the canister behind one the loops I was able to make and layed out the rest of the film so that it would frame itself. I have accomplished a continuous frame that frames the image in two individual parts. It could be described as order and chaos according to my husband. I do feel that I was able to use a single foreground subject (the ribbon of film) to frame the image...it only happens to frame two objects in teh same image. Those two objects include film being framed by itself and the empty canister.

This is a really cool perspective and composition! And yes, certainly agree with you abt how hard it can get for managing DoF with a P&S. :)

DOF, it's a challenge with point and shoot, unless there is something I don't know! The few that I did have that had some DOF, did not have a an eye catching appeal.

Great idea. Could have been a little more crisp.

This shot really wouldn't work with memory cards, would it? Very well done. I would have taken off the tape on the end of the film, it doesn't add anything to the shot and ends up being as much of a focal point as the film canister.

One of my favorites for the challenge since you actually have a frame and subject that deal with each other in a direct way as opposed to just seeing something through something else. Oh, and I like the color (also fitting) and composition.

Interesting take on the theme.

Nice idea, well executed

great image....good visual movement between 2 loops/frames. Has a "chaos vs order" feel to it!

Excellent, very well done indeed, and good choice of b&w.

Cool idea, and fits in two ways, nice thought. Black and white film, black and white images, goes together well.

Clever idea well executed. The levels and reflections are terrific. Composition is interesting. While it technically meets the challenge, the real strength of the photo is the right half, and it steals the thunder from the left a bit. Among my top picks.

A good idea but the lighting could be improoved.

I think the panorama style of this photo is very effective. Maybe to prevent the image from being cropped at all sides, a white or black border could've been added.

Nicely done!

nice image, but the frame seems to be on the right, and not focused on the film can. I would have liked to see only one spiral of film.

over exposed, just kidding I was refering to the film 8
