 I wasn't around for the Self Portrait challenge so I decided to have a go for this one.

A reshoot of my first ever attempt at a self portrait, which I took to mark my birthday 2 days before the challenge started.

Lit by a 500w halogen worklamp, mostly bounced off the ceiling. Adjusted levels & increased contrast to darken the shadowy areas.

Cor - this is very cool. Apart from the OTT white light on the nose it's pretty damn fine portrait... And you're not a bad looking geezer! ;) Kavey

Very nice lighting. I like the angle and framing/cropping you have chosen here. Focus seems a bit soft around the eyes, otherwise,nice b/w portrait. Good luck in the challenge.

A very simple subject, simple lighting, very little expression, but it's one of my favorites this week. Those eyes really capture my attention! Details in the hood of the jacket are great! Nice shot...

The tight crop and the piercing expression of the eyes gives this picture a very "tense" feeling ot me. Good work.

A bit scary with those eyes wide open. Nice crop, good exposure. A bit grainy, but is seems to add something.

I like the straight on shot, the wide eyes, the tight crop/framing, and of course the hood with it's shadows. I really enjoy this one. 8

I scored this 9........ I like the framing of the hood....it is a beautiful and interesting young face - a very good subject. Your b&w tonality is superb.

Even with the hood, you managed to have great lighting on the face. I love the composition, and that the face is surrounded by the darkness created by the hood.

this is a very good capture with a lot of detail. Good sharp focus. what I don't like is all of those sharpies in his eyes. They don't help at all, othewise great.

Excellent perspective shot. Obviously the b&w here works well. I like how you have chosen the whole face and put the lighting to terrific use. The hood adds interest as well. Great composition and clarity. Well done 10
