I just received my new lighting kit and thought I would try and jump in this challenge with 5 hours left.
Thinking of a creative picture for "Keys" didn't play out as easy as I thought. I went from idea to idea...basically one upping myself with each change to the image. I finally ended up with this one, with just 20 minutes to spare!
I use two soft boxes. I'm just starting to work and learn lighting. Hope to here some feedback on it.

With more time, I would of like to go back and move my aperture to maybe 8 rather than 4.

For anyone that doesn't understand how the key plays in. This is a couple recording themselves in the bedroom. The male was handcuffed to the bed and woman left, placing the key just out of reach..

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Hahaha! Definitely a fun take and cautionary tale for those who are a little too trusting :-) Brilliant use of the videocamera screen, love that you're in focus in the screen and oof out of it. The key's positioning taunting you is too funny. The lighting looks really good, I have no complaints. Very good work for an 11th hour shot. I like the use of b/w, the comp is good and leads the eye through the story as you go around the frame. I almost expect to see this on the evening news.

Truly my only nitpick is the fact that it's not a real handcuff key, but otherwise it's a truly funny shot that did pretty well, so be proud of it. Keep on shooting and entering and learning your lights!

Feel free to PM me,

Susan

An good story well captured although the key part might be a bit of a shoehorn.

I think the message is lost on me. An interesting photo, but it has me saying "what?"

Love the idea, the shot, the DOF. The colors are well, and LOVE LOVE LOVE the expression on the face. GREAT shot!!!

Interesting shot, although the key seems gratuitous.

Good lord! Hilarious! Though, if you're really trying to make a video, you need a wider shot! Nice coloring too. The desaturated look works well.
