here's a pretty interesting collection of over 100 images from the pacific theatre in a denver post article.

the one that really got my attention is the last one, as i just recently saw an original print made by the photographer's assistant...he happens to live about 5 miles from my house! hopefully, i'm going to be able to spend some time with him this summer.

Nice collection of images, Skip. Since this last black and white challenge I have come to appreciate B&W photography so much more than ever. It's remarkable how well done these B&W images were done without the benefits of the conversion technology that we use on our digital images.

Check out photo #9 - that guy needs to learn how to clone out dust spots ;-)

Spent a good 35 mins going through them - great photos showing the hammering the USA took - I think the part the USA played in WWII is often overlooked here - sure we all know about the Normandy landings, but a lot of Europeans forget the battles they fought in the Pacific. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for posting this Skip. Lost an uncle on the USS Franklin. That is an image of it I have never seen before. Most common is the one with the priest administering the last rites on deck.
