You looking for standard size prints or something bigger? I have used Snapfish and Shutterfly for stardard ones- I am sure there are other nice places too. Or I just go to the local drugstore. For nicer or larger prints I use Mpix.com.

Thanks JeffryZ

I'm looking for all sizes - just suggestions for places you've all used that you would recommend. :)

Thank you! I've used snapfish and shutterfly- both which are nice. I'll check out Mpix.

I get almost all my prints from Costco ... if you already have a membership they are a great deal, good quality, and good customer service.

I sell prints from my sports events and other events through my Exposuremanager account. I also order from them myself. However I do many prints here at my house up to 13x19. I have a Canon Pro9000 printer.

I recently have tried Black River and have been very impressed - I like their Irish Linen Texture with Lustre coating.

im going to second mpix. I use them for all of my printing needs. It's like 10 bucks for overnight shipping and you can pay a little extra to have them put in nice boxes. They have great prices too.

i'm lucky to have an incredible local lab in Richmond Camera. they're actually one of the leading labs used by photoreflect, one of the larger online services.

i would be surprised if there wasn't a really good local lab down where you are. when you are able to deal locally, you get better turn around times, you save on shipping, and, if there's ever a problem, you get it handled much more quickly.

with my lab, i use their ftp software to upload directly to their print queue. anything uploaded by 11pm can be picked up at their downtown store after 4pm the next day, or picked up at my local store after 1pm the day following. it's a 20 minute drive downtown or a five minute drive local; i typically don't mind waiting the extra day.

the other advantage is that i see what goes in the envelope that goes to my clients.

as i said, i'm lucky. otherwise, i'd probably use WHCC or mpix or Buckeye Color...

I use exposure manager as well for online orders and I do self-fulfillment through whcc. I highly recommend whcc, they have really been good. They ship to your studio for free (with great turnaround), have great customer service, and the quality is wonderful. I'm using them for albums now too.

I use Mpix. Their turn around is incrediblly fast and the quality of their prints are superb.

The only gripe I have about them is the inability to be able to talk to a person over the phone. Everything they do is via email. They do respond fast to email, but their responses are often inpersonal and cold. I wish they improved upon this, its the only reason I would go with another equal printing company if there was one.

But besides that, everything else they do is great quality.

That is another thing that has really impressed me about WHCC. I've had actual human beings call me on several different occasions just to verify certain aspects of orders. It was especially helpful when I first started ordering albums, they would call up and ask me if I really wanted certain things done (and normally they were right and I ordered incorrectly).

I use an excellent pro lab in Vancouver, BC, upload my prints and have the lab colour-proof it as per instruction and samples, either Silver Halides (on Fujicolor Crystal Archive paper) or Giclées (on Hahnemühle Photo Rag). They either ship or accommodate pick-up.

If I didn't have them, I'd likely order from WhiteWall in Berlin, based on recommendations and reputation.

Mpix for more professional orders (such as client orders or portfolio orders) but for almost everything else, I actually turn to Costco. Their quality is the best for a quick photo needed that dosen't look like crap.

I'm another WHCC user. They haven't fudged anything so far, they've been good enough to contact me when I have (and even discounted me on a redo that was my fault once) and have good turnaround times...especially for me since I'm local.

I recommend Mpix to my clients who purchase digital files. However, I recently used MPix Pro and they sent me a damaged and poorly printed product (not prints). They replaced when I provided photo proof but didn't send all the parts with the redo. So I'm not entirely sure about them right now.

I've also used ProDPI and Miller's but not steadily enough to compare to WHCC.

I have a Richmond Camera in our area also. Very professional and courteous staff (plus they have a nice range of film if you still play with B&W 120).

Skip, based on your experience, would you use their online service even if they had to ship the order to you?

possibly, barry. given my experience with them, i'd be inclined to, but i'd have to weigh the overall cost as compared to other labs. there's a HUGE difference between printing relatively inexpensive prints and 'fine art' or really large prints. for every day prints, it's all about quality, convenience, and price. for the heavy duty stuff, you're gonna want a lab you can trust. fwiw, i trust richmond camera.

I do my own up to 13 x 19 on a Canon printer. Bigger than that I use Mpix for prints and Canvas on Demand for canvas. I've used both to print up to 24 x 36 so far.

I've had great results from DPC Prints.

Same here actually. I've ordered some 16x20's that were handled quite well.

dpcPrints actually uses ezPrints, the same lab that smugmug uses (or used to use).

I use an assortment of places depending on the job and the need.

Black River, Millers, and Costco for the most part though.

Costco will provide you with the ICC profiles for their printers by location, couple that with their prices, high quality printers/paper anf the speed of their service (you can usually pick up your prints a couple of hours after ordering them on line)and you've got an unbeatable deal.

If you go anywhere else, you're missing out.

Another vote for WHCC. I've tired Mpix/Millers and wasn't happy with the results from them.

I'm very happy with WHCC. And having free shipping (to you, but not if you drop ship) makes their costs one of the best as well.
