Some lovely photos here from the Annual Monkey Buffet at the Pra Prang Sam Yot temple in Thailand where locals lay on a big spread and give thanks to the local monkeys. Quite right too.

Ha! No, it's not quite the Thai version of Thanksgiving.

I was worried 'cause I love Thai food and I'd have been afraid to go to a Thai restaurant after that!

why do they give them candy and soda ?

you'd think they would be a bit more mindful of their natural diet...

unless they always eat candy and drink coke.

That did cross my mind, although, considering that the monkeys are a huge tourist attraction i suspect sweets and fizzy drinks would be a large part of their diet the year round.

E.T.A - I would think that the offerings are mostly fruit and other natural foods though. The coke and candy just make a good photo op. I can't see the locals buying up crates of coke to give them when they are pretty poor themselves.
