Does anyone know how to load *.NEF files directly into matlab? I want the exact sensor data as recorded by the sensor in the form of a matrix in matlab... I'm afraid lightroom does funky things if i export to *.tif files.
Anyone? |

on codeproject.com search for image liberary. i forgot the name but loooonng time ago i wrote a program to track something in series of photos. It was easy and you would be able to export as matrix to file using it. After that load it into matlab.

| Just as a hunch, I'd look into DNG files. Since DNG is an open format (whereas NEF is proprietary and closed), so if anyone has already put together an image import library you're looking for, they'd be more likely to have done it for DNG. |

Hmmmmm, but how do i get DNG files out of my NEFs?
The codeproject doesn't seem to have my answer... |

Oh, sorry -- I made a little jump there -- I've been emmersed in a Lightroom training project and updating some LR tips on my blog and completely assumed DNG conversion was "already covered." ;)
Yes, you can easily convert your NEFs to DNG -- Either in Lightroom directly (Library -> Convert Selected Images to DNG), or outside of LR using the DNG converter software, which is free from Adobe.
