I just upgraded from a Blackberry to the iPhone 3G s. If you have one and there is an app you just love, please share about it.

PhotoGene is good, Camera Bag and Night Camera are good, too. GPS Motion X is good, as is Sol,

Flixter for movie schedules, Google, Gmail, and Gpush for googly stuff

Weatherbug and The Weather Channel apps are both good

USA Today is a decent news app. AP News used to be great, but they modified it and it stinks on ice, now--I deleted it.

Shazam is fun, Wikipanion is occasionally useful. Currency is a good converter

If you use Netflix, iRentMovie is pretty sweet. Camera Bag is awesome. Shazam, Urban Spoon, 21 Pro (Black Jack), Solebon for all things Solitaire.

The Weather Channel (the free one, not the pain one) is an upgrade from the weather app that comes with the iPhone.

Have fun!

Focalware is great for photographers.

If you want to spend a tiny bit then pUniverse is fantastic if interested in astronomy - even better on the 3GS with the compass.

I have a iPhone and a Blackberry Curve and the iPhone beats the curve hands down. Not sure why someone said the iPhone was a downgrade, would love them to justify that remark.

My iPhone is jailbroken and there are some pretty cool apps only available to these types of phones. For example, you can make most any app run in the background; you can easily get to common settings with a swipe of your finger; you can have themes instead of the boring one from Apple; you can have a day-at-a-glance from your lock screen, etc.

Macbook 3 theme:

Day-at-a-glance (via the Intelliscreen app):

If you are not jailbroken, there are still tons of useful applications available. Specifically for photographers, search the app store for "DOF" and you'll see quite a bit of depth-of-field applications that show the various DOF measurements, circle of confusion values, hyperfocal distance, etc. A couple of them are free. If you don't want to use an appstore app, you can just point your iPhone's browser (Safari) to the Online Depth-of-field Calculator.

Enjoy your iPhone...I certainly do!

iXpenseIt (there's a free "lite" version for a trial) is an amazing app for tracking monthly expenses. Create budgets, input expenses (single and reoccuring), and e-mail yourself excel spreadsheet reports. Very robust and versatile.

People that react that way usually can't get an iPhone for various reasons such as they are stuck in another contract and can't get an iPhone, or simply think the iPhone is too expensive, or are too closed-minded to the on-screen keyboard.

They're good enough to make RIM the fastest growing company in the world according to Fortune Magazine.

I just downloaded Pinball Fantasies, I loved it on the Amiga and it's great on the iPhone too, wasn't free though.

That's easy to do when you have only one (or two) product lines, as opposed to Apple, Microsoft, etc, where they have dozens of product lines.

+1 for Pandora.

I love Pandora. That was the main reason I jailbroke my phone--to be able to run Pandora in the background and not have it close when a text message or phone call came through.

onOne has an iPhone app that will act as a remote trigger for Canon and Nikon DSLRs. Haven't used it but might be cool.

If you travel a lot: Flight Track ($4.99) is a must.

hey, thanks for all the suggested apps guys. I got so busy playing with it last night I forgot to check back. lol
This thing is a blast. I cracked up at the ParaPanic and the Sheep Launcher. I also loaded the Paper Toss, Deerhunter Free, and Action Bowling Free. I also have some more truly useful apps such as ATT Navigator (a must for me), iHandy Level, AroundMe, Yahoo Messenger, and Facebook.
As for the photo related, I got the Night Camera installed. I will look into Camera Genius and Piggeez (must support my fellow DPCer)
I'll be having surgery on my back in September October (damn it, got bumped due to docs on vacation) and will be in the hospital a couple days, so I need stuff on there to occupy my mind.
