Success! The current queue is empty due to the hard work of Critique Club members like yourself!

Try back soon!

If you're up for it, you can take a stab at one of the ~58,056 older requests that were never fulfilled.

So, whilst there will be a few more in the queue come Wednesday can we get this down to 57 thousand and something by the weekend?

I know JulietNN has been slacking over the last couple of days with just 93 critiques this past fortnight ;)

ooh, looks like we were really slacking as I'm delving into the archives and just got my second critique from the life and death challenge!

I'm confused, during the last month I'm pretty sure every critique request has been done but the total is going up??

If you're up for it, you can take a stab at one of the ~58,098 older requests that were never fulfilled.

I don't know, I just got one from the square and circle challenge. I am sure that lot was cleared

urg just did a couple more and it seems that there may be a glitch as it now reads 58,102 not commented on.

umm.... so I send an email saying that I'm interested in the critique club, but I'm not sure: I have concerns and questions. And I got an email response saying thanks for volunteering... hmmm

At our current rate its only 10 years (if people stop asking for them lol).

This is what I sent:

I\'m curious about the critique club. I\'d like to join, but I'm not sure I have the qualifications. I'm self taught, and the things I know--I know well. But there is so much I don't know especially in processing. I also can't see things like aliasing. eyes can't pick that up very easily.

Are you desperate enough that you can use someone as inexperienced as myself? Or is there a mentor program for critiquing? (I create the critique, send it to my mentor who says "you really should have mentioned this", I correct it and send it out...)

And then, what I should have asked first is: What do you have to do? Do you have a certain number you need to do per week. Do you have more info?

I think you're over-thinking things :) All you have to do is apply whatever knowledge and reaction you have in order to possibly give the photographer something to think about and consider. There's no such thing as doing it 'right'. Everyone is going to see a work differently. Where one person will say, "I don't think the out of focus element works here", another will say, "I absolutely love the out of focus element here."

All that is expected of you is to bring your own unique vision and understanding to a photo. There is no criteria for that.

Wendy, there are over 300 members but most have left/stopped critiquing. There is no minimum requirent in fact the top 10 critiquers in the past 2 weeks is shown and is often just 2 or 3 ( Julietnn is on another planet with around 70 this past 2 weeks).

To try and focus myself I use the below as headers, it helps me keep on track..

Greetings from Andi via the Critique Club

First Impression:

Composition:

Subject:

Technical:

Final thoughts:

I also send an email to the submitter telling them I've given a critique and happy to discuss further. If they are brand new members I've started explaining that whilst its a club the critiques are from individuals.

Personally I find I learn more from doing a critique than the photographer does. If you want to try doing one and asking a couple of folks for feedback then I'm sure we will help (via pm) or you could go critique a couple of my shots ;) If your not technically minded then you just need to say that however the powers that be will vet your critiques on the QT.

This is my second spell here, the first time I was quite new and only critiqued 6 of the 11 offered because I didn't like the images, this time I'm critiquing 100% :)

I'll give it a shot--(I'll have to get it figured out tomorrow, however. I'm still trying to come up with a shot for tonight.)

I'd love to have critiques of my critiques. (actually, I don't want a critique of what I've written--I'd like to know what I've missed. People have such interesting insights: things that never would have occurred to me. I'd just like to make sure I'm on track.

Bedtime for me and just 5 left in the queue folks!

I am somewhat new on here...but I'm confused..if the critique requests are empty, why do I not have a critique (I checked the "please critique" box during entry) on this photo:

//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=816386

I might be missing a timeline/ queue thing I'm not aware of...

Thanks

The members of the CC get the requests only after the challenge results are published. Yours is now one out of 63 images awaiting critique.

Ok, stupid question for you:

I picked an image and haven't critiqued it yet. When I go to the critique club, it's nice enough to tell me that I've critiqued 1 of 2 selected. However, I don't see a way to get back to the image still waiting. The only link I saw was the give me an image to critique link. I assumed that perhaps it would show me the image waiting, but it gave me another one. I critiqued that one, but how do I get back to the image that sill waiting?

thanks!

HA! Don't we wish!

Well, right now on Friday evening, I'm the only one doing critiques in the Critique Club and I have to tell you I'm having a ball!

This is an especially good crop of images, so members of the Critique Club, jump right into the pool. The water's fine!

Right now, we are at 82 to go before Sunday's roll over.

They are like candy, potato chips and popcorn; ya can't just eat one. Besides they are sweet, salty and just plain fun.

So, snaffles, nuzzer, jasonlprice, vawendy, mattO geoffb citadel, mpeters and duartix, put your swimming suits on and jump in.

And those are just the names of the active Critique Club stalwarts whose names I can grab easily because they are on record as working!

Okay, that's all. If you're a member of the Critique Club - even from way back - it's time to play again.

Just heard from Duartix who has started his quest towards the finish line.

way to go, Duartix.

I just looked at his profile, and guess what! He is a newbie, who started with DPC in November, and has jumped in with both feet.

That's the way to learn. trust me on that one.

oh-Kay! We were at 82 an hour ago, now the number is 71. Very, very nice!

At this rate, I might not get back into the queue again when I return in the morning.

but don't let that hold you back CC members... speaking of whom, I see Melethia, among others, has made several critiques in the last hour. Nice!

:-))

Down to 66 now - keep up the good work, folks!

If anyone has the time, I would be very greatful if someone could critque a shot for me. It's not a very recent shot but I didn't get any comments on it during challenge. I'm interested in how it could have been a better shot.

Hey mBastin I left you a comment. What do you use to resize your pictures?

I did my first 4 critiques, how are they? //www.dpchallenge.com/comment_browse.php?USER_ID=106543

I've not got my 2010 run-rate up to 0.5 critiques per day, my target is to get to 1.0 per day but it'll take a while to catch up I think.
01/30/2010 01:17:29 AM · #25
Pretty good job on the critiques, Andrew! Nice touch adding the link to contact you if they wish. And I also send an email letting folks know they have a CC comment - 'tis a good practice, I think.
