Does anybody have any experience with a G10 in WP-DC28 waterproof case. I am planing snorkeling - no diving, I don't have UW external flush, I can go no deeper then 3m, - in a sunny day there is still some light available there. I can not find on the net any UW sample pictures taken with Canon G10.

I have changed my plans, I am going for Pentax optio W60

Pentax W60 specification:

It will cost me the same as waterproof case for my G10. I think that snorekling once a year doesn't justify my original idea. And it looks like Pentax W60 is a nice pocket camera.

I found a link to UW pictures taken with Pentax W60:

I think they are great, but you can not compare these pictures (taken with $270 equipment) with a professional quality picture like this:

taken with over 2000 dollars set by our DPC member Motek. Great job Motek!

I'm wondering something - When you're snorkeling (as opposed to scuba diving) is it possible to dive down to these depths and stay down there long enough to compose and take a shot like that? - Whenever I've tried snorkeling the main problem is that I float too much! :-)

Olympus has some relatively inexpensive waterproof P&S cameras as well.

I have the canon g10 and housing, its fantastic.I have entered a few shots with it, Havent done too well, Its hard to take a photo in a near zero gravity enviroment full of natural noise which is mostly dark and with subjects that move very quick

You only need to dive to 10m to get decent photos, get a nice wetsuit and a weightbelt. Always dive with a buddy thought. I spearfish so its not so hard as I usually freediver around 20m

If the water is warm, a weight belt is the best thing to have, in order to get you to neutral density, so that you don't have to fight to stay down. Comfortable fins help too.
It's difficult to shoot when you are fighting to stay under. Shooting upside down and turning the images over later works good in shallow water. That way you can put the camera close to the bottom without having to lie on the bottom and twist your neck to see what you are shooting.
Good luck with the adventure.
