I'm totally struggling with the selection of a domain name. I'm looking for a ".com" address and not ".net" or anything else ... I absolutely HATE my last name because no one can pronounce it, let alone spell it ... Pritzl. It's been butchered my entire life and I realized a long time ago that it would make a terrible business name. That being said, I do like my first and middle names, however I've tried every combination that I can think of: psphotography.com, psimages.com, psphoto.com, pamelasue.com, pamelasuephotography.com. pamelasuephoto.com is available but I'm afraid that it'll get confused with pamelasuephotography.com ... and I sure don't want that to happen. So I went down the road of trying to come up with anything that sorta represented me .... did some research on "Pamela" and found that the first time it was used was in a book titled "Arcadia" written a gazillion years ago. Perfect I thought, until I realized that Arcadiaimages.com was taken along with my other arcadia related choices. Back to the drawing board ... ok, so I LOVE daisies ... and came up with bluedaisy.com ... nope, taken along with any bluedaisyphotography type sites as well ... I've tried to think of lots of different colors that are easy to say and spell with NO luck at all ... even tried concretedaisy.com, stonedaisy.com ... went as far as chocolatedaisy.com ... ALL TAKEN ... the only choice that I *sorta* like is bronzedaisy.com but I'm not totally sold on it ... so here I am, BEGGING all of you creative DPC'ers to help me choose a catchy domain name ...

Found this bit of information. I thought maybe you could combine some of it to come up with a great domain name. It is quite difficult. How about SweetLilyPhotography.com?

Pamela \p(a)-me-la\ is pronounced PAM-eh-lah. It is of Greek origin, and its meaning is "honey; all sweetness".

Sue
Origin: English

Meaning: Lily. Variant of Susannah. In the apocryphal Book of Tobit Susannah courageously defended herself against wrongful accusation. White lilies grew in the Biblical city of Susa in Persia.

I've been a fan of using your real name because in the end that's what people will search for. They may butcher it but believe me Pritzi is no harder to spell than Nitsche. Mine get's massacred every time anyone tries to spell it but my site always comes up in searches because they usually get close.

Once your address get's set with the search engines they will help people find you. Name recognition is key. There's a ton of Pamela Sue's out there but not too many Pamela Pritzi's I'm guessing.

Just my 2 cents.

As far as I know, there aren't any other Pamela Pritzl's out there ... the world only needs one! My issue with using my last name is: that it might not be my last name forever ... then I'd have to change the business name ... for men, their name doesn't ever change.

Both "foreverpamela" and "foreverpamelasue" are available in .com and .net both.

"Sweetpamelasue" sounds like a country/western song... It does have a nice ring to it, but I'm not sure it has the right *flavor*, if you know what I mean. On the other hand, if your business involves portraiture, weddings, and the like (I don't know if it does) then "forever" is a hot-button word re: peoples' motivation for hiring you; to preserve memories...

I would go with stillpamela.com

It ties in with your name, has a connection to Photography, and keeps options open. Also can see some great things that can be done ont he marketing/advertising/business cards etc.

I am a fan of using your name, but can see the issues with your last name and people not being able to spell it, and then the confusion if and when you get married.

My 2c for what its worth (as its Aussie cents, only about a cent to you guys over there with the exchange rate.......)

LOL, I just re-read you post ... and you got my last name wrong too! PRITZL ... not PRITZI ... that is exactly what I mean, by human nature no one wants to put 3 consonants together, everyone wants to add an "E" or change the "L" to an "I" ...

Bear, I LOVE both of those also ... this endeavor has gone from me having no choices to having too many good one! Thanks for assisting ... FWIW, right now I have no plans for wedding photography, but portraiture is absolutely on the list.

Or "Inyourface! Camera work" www.iyf.com

shut up & smile= www.shutupsmile.com

this might be the wrong image you're going for, and yes, I should switch to decaf.

LOL!!!! I guess you got me... Point taken... :-)

I hear you on the name change thing also. You could keep your maiden name for business though if you wanted to. Seriously go and put Dave Nitche in google (or any other bastardization of Dave Nitsche you can come up with) I'm always on the first page. Search engines no what I want better than I do.

What kind of a name is Pritzl? I really like it. Very unique.

Pritzl is German ... I'm a total mutt: German, French Canadian, Irish and English mainly, however there are lots of other things mixed in there also ...
