Lost mine last night somewhere downtown...

All you need to do is go into any camera shop and get a lens cap in the size that matches your lens' filter threading. Since the cap locks into the filter threads, all that matters is the threading size.

Good thing it was the right size for their lens! They must have searched a lot of cars to find the right one!

Seriously, sorry about you losing your lens cap, I've seen quite a few on ebay, but I imagine that you want one sooner than that. My camera shop doesn't really care how stupid I look (or feel - since I ask a lot of "stupid" questions!), they just like that I buy all my stuff there!

I've lost lenscaps before... people lose them all the time. If no one ever needed to replace them, camera stores would not stock them. Just go in, tell them you lost your lens cap downtown somewhere, and you need a replacement lens cap for a lens with an n-millimiter filter threading.

If you're lucky they won't bust out laughing until after you leave the store! ;-)

So I ain't gotta lug the camera into the shop, what is the thread on the kit lens? Anyone, anyone, anyone?

Tell the store you lent your camera to some idiot who lost the lens cap downtown somewhere. Harrumph a little and pretty soon they will have empathy for you. Might even give you one for free!

My 2nd son broke the lenscap to my Tiffen 2x TC. He ripped the springs out of it while we were watching my eldest son's soccer game. The size was on the cap, 67mm, so I knew what I needed. So I went to a camera shop near my work and asked them if they had a 67mm lenscap. Maybe I look like a complete idiot because he asked me what kind of camera. I told him what kind of camera I had which, at the time was my Olympus C-3000. He asked me if I could get the camera. So I did. He looked at the camera,"You don't need a 67mm lenscap for that camera," was his inciteful commentary on the situation. "I never said I did, did I?" was my reply. So I pulled out the teleconverter and silently he brought me the correct lenscap.

There really isn't a point to this story, but when I read the posts, it reminded me of it. For those of you who have worthwhile things to do this fine Saturday, my apologies. For everyone else, have a nice holiday.

58mm should do it. (better buy two, they leave home frequently.)

You could probably find one online and avoid all human contact and embarassment (aside from what the dpc people are now saying behind your back).

Lens caps are so cheap I wouldn't bother online. Just go to the local camera shop and buy one. No, they won't look at you like you're an idiot. Small items get lost all the time.

No, stupid would be scratching your filter or lens cause you're too proud or maybe TooCool to go buy a new one. Just kidding, can happen to anyone dude.

I had to get a 52mm lenscap for my adapter tube and filter that stays on all the time.n $2 or so an the local photo shop. Howeever, it did not include a ring type apparatus for me to attach a lanyard cord, as my 'stock' cap had.

Some 5 minute epoxy and a washer glued to hang off the edge fixed that. Looks goofy to some extent, but then so do i. LOL

I also like the velcro idea someone mentioned in another thread.
