kind of interesting -- this came up in conversation with some friends this week. i'm not a huge fan of the olympics (like, i don't go rabid for figure skating and stuff), but it turns out that i've visited a ton of cities that have hosted the olympics. i didn't even realize!

here's a list of the cities, so you can play along.

i'm counting "visited" to mean "spent the night in." so far i've ended up in: 9! paris, amsterdam, st. louis, los angeles, helsinki, rome, seoul, atlanta, and salt lake city. the big ones that i am missing that i really want to get to are london, berlin, and sydney. ah... some day when the dollar gets out of the toilet.

so, anyone else want to play?

Barcelona, Athens, Paris, Amsterdam

you beat me :p

ps: I could count Antwerp in, I'm like 40 km away, so I don't think I'll ever spend the night in :)

flew in to LAX once and then my brother picked me up and we drove to Monterrey. So, I've been to LA, but I wouldn't call it a 'visit', so I'll say NONE.

That's easy, just one. Just this week.

Calgary, Alberta, Canada
The DPC Workshop was in the "Olympic Volunteer Center".

Drove through and had plane stopovers in several.

Lake Placid, New York, United States

... it's only 135 miles from my house, and I've been there a few times, but never spent the night ... so zero for me :)

Oddly, they even use the ski jump for training during the summer

So have I, though way fewer than you. Actually, for some, I can say that I've been to the airport (St. Louis and Paris), and I've driven through Salt Lake City more than once. I've actually spent at least a day in Los Angeles, Vancouver, Montreal, and Squaw Valley.

Paris, France when I was 16 - stayed in a hotel on Rue Blanc; story has it, when the flour wagons traveled through, it dusted the street - hence the name. I remember some really strong coffee!

Amsterdam, Netherlands Same trip with Tante Hildegard & Onkle Franz

Los Angeles, United States Visited my friend in the 80's

Montreal, Canada A weekend get-a-way!

Atlanta, United States Spring Break over night on my way to Daytona because I wanted to see the city

London, United Kingdom My 80's travel bug

St. Moritz, Switzerland That same trip with Tante Hildegard & Onkle Franz...I stayed May 10 through 2 days before school started; Dad calls it the summer I ran away from home (1976)

Lake Placid, N.Y., United States My sister competed in figure skating national competition! She did well too! ...while Mom and I rented paddle boats and drank bloody maries

Innsbruck, Austria That same trip with Tante Hildegard & Onkle Franz...

Grrr I thought San Diego hosted? Was there for Irish Dance competition - NOT ME COMPETING silly! ...my nieces; they're really good, too - Won All Ireland in choreograph dance for Celtic Hoe-Down in 2005!
Geeze, I'll brag about those girls at every chance ;)

ETA: ...while me and mom to Mom and I
