ERIC GAMBLE

Tell me:

What you like.
What you hate.

What you would keep.
What you would change.

Be honest..but also remember..I have never made a website...so be gentle as well. :)

(*sidenote, sorry about the gross use of watermarking...but the contract with Yahoo Hosting...allows them royalty free use of any information posted on the site...and I would rather them have a watermarked low res file..than see any of my pics being used by YAHOO for free)

found a spelling error.

Portraits

A fantastic way to document each year is the portrait. A portrait is a photograph that aims to capture the emotion, thought, and all around 'feel' of the subject during a specific time in their life. Whether you need it for work, play or simply future generations you owe it to yourself to get a potrait done today. Feel free to view some examples here.

Love the layout

Love the brown background with the green bar

Hate the Eric Gamble Photography floating in the middle of nowhere at the top

Hate the font use in Gamble Photography, it's not very clear or readable and doesn't stand out

Love the deck of cards

yes i'd either remove it altogether or integrate in with the gamble photography part as this seems to be your main logo for the site?
You don't need to say it twice.

Horrah!

But did you change it to say ATTENTION: Free Photo Sessions available contact for more information!? LOL that's cheating!!

I really do think it would be better to leave it totally blank? That part is the border and shouldn't have anything on there, your text should really all be on the main layouts.

now you're talking!!

I'm not sure what you think, but i think it looks a lot neater like that? Before it looked like some advertising site with links all over the place?

Portraits's? That doesn't seem right.
I like the top two portraits, but the GAMBLE PHOTOGRAPHY kinda kills it for me.

Everything else looks good.

Yea. I would prefer not to do that. But I don't want yahoo using my pictures either.
It seems crazy that I pay for the premium...and still they put that clause into the contract. Good thing I read it..

I think that you need to grab people on your front page. Pick your best photo, add a "signature" style watermark to it, and have it be the very top of the front page. Remove as much text as possible from the front page. Leave your location, contact info, etc... The more of YOUR photos that are up there, the better.

take off the watermarking

I hate to say it, but this is one of the few times I think one's name is a bad choice for a business name. "Gamble Photography" - every one of your competitors will point out, with a name like that you're taking a big gamble on your wedding photos.

Perhaps you should consider using a part of your name "amble photography" "preamble" (e from eric, amble from Gable" pr from out of a hat).

Or take all the letters of your name and see what other interesting sounding name you can composite.

I am proud of my name. If I lose business because someone 'doesn't want to take a Gamble'...then so be it. I understand where you are coming from and what you are trying to say. And I mean no offense to your suggestion, but that is who I am.

I am Eric Gamble...not eric amble or any other variance.

definitely change the font on gamble photography though....

The excessive watermarking ruins your pictures. I'd remove the watermarks completely.

The business lost because people cannot judge the full beauty of your pictures will by far outweigh whatever you're afraid of in terms of stealing. (Think about it: What's the worst thing someone could do with a non-watermarked 500 x 333 pixel image?)

Also: Avoid browser resizing of pictures, it results in significant quality loss. Resize pictures in Photoshop to the exact size you'd like to use one your website.

Fair enough - but that was my first thought as well... you may well be proud of your name, and so you should be, but dont put cards behind it as it makes the association between your surname and the english word. Far better to call it just "Eric Gamble Photography" and absolutely no gamble reference in icons or banners... And "Eric Gamble Photography" rather than what you have at the moment on that banner: "Gamble Photography" also makes sure the person knows that it is your surname rather than the trade name of your business.

THAT...I can do.

:)

Good advice.

It will just have to wait for tommorow.

I am really tired and bummed about my crime scene rating...

You need to change the way your saving your images for your website. On the wedding page you have images that are 850kb. There is no reason for them to be that big. Not everyone getting married has a high speed internet connection.
