I am familiar with the rules of photo manipulation, or lack thereof. BUT, with my camera I have taken a couple shots that I simply can't live with, as is, due to the the inherant barrel distortion.
So, I am asking if this "filter" can be allowed:

Even you G2 users might get some use from this, but at any rate everyone take a look at the link if you have no idea what I'm talking about, or just for the info. |

I am no admin but my understanding is that post production is restricted. If it is an add on filter (color, star, polarizing, macro, tele, wide angle etc), a light source etc that is done at the time of the pic and the effect comes trough the ccd it is allowed.

Just to clarify, this is a filter for photoshop that "corrects" the entire image from the barrel distortion that is already in the image.
I consider barrel distortion a limitation of my camera, well, without the use of this filter anyways. WITH this filter I am free to get as close to a subject as I want, to frame the subject as I would with an SLR or whatnot.
I don''t have the money to get a a camera that doesn''t exhibit barrel distortion. I picked my A40 for several reasons, but mainly because it was in the price-range for quality that I was willing to deal with.
This correction filter has enabled me to do what I WANT with framing of subject, and I would like to think that I am not limited by using it for submissions here. But that''s not up to me, and I understand that.

Under current rules, no filters are allowed which move pixels around. I think the idea may be to encourage us to learn universal photographic techniques, and not rely on having digitized images and the ability to change them into anything we want.
I hope you''re able to re-create your shot and figure out some "analog" technique to fix the problem.

Well, currently the only thing I can do is frame the subject in the middle of the frame, and move back ... then crop the heck out of the image later. I, personally, don''t like doing this. I was taught to frame properly from the the start. Not to mention, this severely limits printing a reasonable photo later.

Thanks Manyk, those filters work great. I hated trying to do that with Photoshop's regular filters.
