So did anyone out there go to the California Capital Airshow today? I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures on here shortly.

I'm still excited from seeing the Blue Angels season opener in El Centro last week. Here are a few of my favorite shots from the day.

...only seven weeks until Thunder Over the Empire!!!

Yeah, I'm jealous too. Here in Utah, they hold the air show every-other-year. This year was supposed to be the next show. But due to scheduling problems with the Blue Angels, they CANCELED IT!!! It's been rescheduled for next year.... so at least it's not another two year wait. But I was *so* looking forward to attending this year.

Two years ago I attended with two cameras, a 20D + 300/2.8 + 2x extender, and a 5D with 70-200. I had planned to keep the same setup with the 5D (the 70-200 feels positively wide angle compared to a 300+2x extender!), but this year I wanted to use my new 1D Mark III to capture some awesome telephoto images! Now I'll have to wait another year to put the Mark III thru its paces.

Oops, I said Blue Angels, didn't I. I meant to say Thunderbirds as they are the ones that always attend the HAFB Air Show. I wonder if HAFB couldn't get someone else to come this year (such a the Blue Angels)? Oh well... next time.

At the airport in the town were most of my work is, the top aerobatic pilots from around the US practice their routines. It's quite a show to see, but, for safety reasons, they are usually a lot higher than they would be for a show, making it difficult to get good photos of them.
Nice photos of the Thunderbirds.

Oh, cool! And November would probably be a great time to be in Las Vegas (August certainly isn't!). Sounds like fun!

We just had our airshow here this weekend. Not a big one but two days of fun. Here are a couple of the B-52 flyby. I still have a lot to edit. Sorry for the picture quality, the first day was mostly overcast and windy.

And B-25 Mitchell

Our big one in Louisville is coming up on April 12th. I doubt I'll make it this year but we do have a lot of fly overs where we live so I might get a few shots in. Those close enough to travel should go, the fireworks display is absolutely awesome too! Thunder Over Louisville

Toronto seems to have one every year in late August if you want to make the trip, Terry. We have the Canadian version of the Thunderbirds, though, which aren't as exciting, IMO. The Snowbirds. :-/ But some US warplanes do make an appearance, such as the Raptor...
