All info and updated list of participants can be found here on the posting thread.

Basically we're doing a 'post card' type shot for each state (no lettering on it though, just the image). We do not have a deadline as of right now, we are waiting for better weather! Feel free to sign up for a state even if someone is already representing it, the more the merrier! Anyone can PM me if they have any questions. At the end we will be doing a collage of some sort showcasing everyone's work. I am hoping we will be able to do many different collages, that way the states with more than one person can be used twice.

Thanks and have fun!

Ashley

I'll do NC.

Just a word of advice -- don't try mailing anything. It inevitably gets lost. I would recommend either the "postcard" approach, or think of an object everyone would have access to and photograph that in your state.

Sounds good, I'm not too creative, I keep thinking of things like a hair brush or a neck tie...how boring am I!! Hopefully everyone else will have better ideas!!! I think the postcard theme could lend us some amazing shots!! Maybe we could do two shots, something more serious (postcard) and then something silly!!

I'll take SC. I'm headed to Charleston in a couple of weeks which pretty much epitomizes our great state.

****Also, just wanted to say that as far as a time frame goes, anytime between now and the end of march should be enough time, I'll start a new thread when we get atleast half the states taken to start posting, I was even thinking we could post our outtakes and get feedback on them, how about a final deadline of March 23rd (St. Patty's Day) and then we will all post our "FINAL" images on or after that day. What do you guys think about that? (I'm really wanting us to get some top notch images, that's why it will be a little over a month for one shot)****

yeah, I was thinking about allowing multiple people for any given state, that way no one is left out!

edit: oops, meant to quote nomad469, I'm always doing that!

I'll represent Michigan!
02/18/2008 05:23:41 PM · #12
I'll take Arkansas
02/18/2008 05:26:17 PM · #13
I'll take Hawaii. There is no reason the there couldn't be more than one person for each state and each could take a different aspect or subject for the state. Just a thought.

Cool concept, I would be happy to do Colorado. Mayb eyou could even somehow have everyone take a photo and the combine them into a photoshop document that lays them out all pretty and then upload it so if people want to buy one they could.

An idea for that might just be simple squares, or a map of the US or world and then crop the photo to fit inside the state, so your end result is a big map but with photos instead of different colored states. I am not sure if I am explaining this well or at all.

I think that's a great idea!! I'm willing to give it a shot, I'm still learning photoshop, so I hope others will try as well!

I agree with avoiding mailing things around, based not only on the above but also the fact that this project will take months to complete if something has to be sent to 50 different states.

I agree, I think everyone's agreeing on taking shots that represent what each state is about or known for.
