[thumb]643645[/thumb] This is out on my deck last night. We have even more snow this morning! I might venture out later and get some better shots. I haven't seen this much in awhile. I have these giant pine trees out back and the branches are hanging on the ground! It really is pretty but I'd rather be somewhere like say...Arizona or Florida right now!

Anything under 6 inches here is just a dusting :). School and work closing due to snow here are pretty rare, even when we get pounded by blizzards.

I live in Wisconsin...I have always been someone that loved winter/snow. BUT ENOUGH ALREADY!! I don't remember getting this much snow since I was a kid! We have been getting snow, if not daily, at least every other day! I'm sick do death of clearing it away! And if I see one more commercial with aqua blue waters and white sandy beaches...my tv is going to land on the curb!!

This is where I stopped shoveling lastnight. My snow blower is trapped in the garage. Need to rescue it today.

We got way more snow than we needed or wanted. What a mess!

Im still slightly jealous!
I remember we had a "Blizzard" while I was at school, we ended up with 2 inches of snow and everything shut down for almost a week....
I think i need to go travelling to get this fascination with snow out of my system :P

I completely understand and totally agree. I remember winters like this but the last one must have been nearly 20 years ago. Yesterday was just horrible. Like you said Enough!!! I have already spent a better part of 4 hours clearing snow from this storm and as you can see in the photo I posted, I have alot more to do. The back of the house is all drifted shut but by the time I get that far I should have made it to my snowblower and will be able to do the rest with little effort.

Everyone be careful shoveling and don't overdo it! I didn't realize how out of shape I was until I volunteered to shovel my mom's driveway over Christmas holiday. I about gave myself a heart attack. Combination of hard work (harder than it looks), cold weather, etc. can be dangerous.

All I know is I'm absolutely ecstatic that I purchased a snow-blower this year. We've got over 8 inches since yesterday morning. I started clearing the driveway this morning at 4:30am and it's already got another couple of inches. It's a good thing I'm home today (it's not a good thing that my daughter's sick though).

It's the fact that you're on an island and your local weather conditions in coastal areas are strongly influenced by the warmer, northward-flowing waters of the Gulf Stream. That's why, in general, you get so much less snow where you are compared with landlocked countries of Europe at similar latitudes.

16" of fresh snow on the ground. cleared our 300' + driveway plus the parking area, front and back porches, path around house for us and dogs - this morning. came to work and cleared 3' deep drifts from the back dock and the front porch/ stairway.

sucks that i'm the only that works here during the winter time.

yesterday i put 3 coats of paint on the kitchen walls because i stayed home.

my muscles are sore, and i am tired...

most snow i've seen at once was last year on valentines day. 38" in one day.

Looking at the "no parking" sign, I guess you can't really use the excuse that you were stuck in the snow. :-)

We lived on a farm just outside Ipswich in the early '80s(last century!!). At the beginning of December 1981, I was due to go for a job interview at Ascot Racecourse and on the morning of the interview, I awoke to 4" of snow, it took us 4 hours to get to Colchester, then the roads were clear. I called my future boss and explained that we had been delayed due to snow, and I could tell he didn't really believe me. He DID when I got to Ascot, the car still had 4" of snow on the roof!!

From then til the day we moved, we had more snow. No vehicles could down our lane, about a mile long, we had to walk - sorry - wade across the fields to get to the local shop. We thought that removal day was out, but on that day the snow had melted a bit and the removal van got to the house and we left.

Next day, we had moved in to the house in Ascot and it started snowing there, it was deep, over 6" and we spent the next six weeks clearing the grandstands of snow. Those were the days:))
