Okay it will be here tomorrow and I got an email yesterday saying it was shipped. Anyhow on the email is says Factory Demo. But when I ordered it said "refurbished". I ordered over the phone and was told it was refurbished and worked on at Nikon.

So what's the difference?

If it is really a factory demo piece, than that is usually better than refurbished. Usually factory demo is the camera that is sitting in the display shelf and used for when people come in the store to test it out. Definitions do vary though and depending where you are getting it from.

Nikon factory demo cams ARE "refurbished". Nikon requires this before they are sold. I'd rather have a factory demo than a cam that had been returned to Nikon as unsatisfactory, refurbished, then sold.

Those factory demos are sometimes the cameras that company reps take around to show. In some cases they never even take a picture. They use them to show new features and how the menu works etc.

How much did you save over what you would have paid retail?

a lot-

I paid 1,179.95 They knocked 100 off for ordering over the fun and knocked the 14.95 shipping charge for the 18-200mm lens. Basically I got the lens, a single filter, and camera for 1908.

basically saved $320 and then some.
