Hello my friends.
I would like to inform you what is going on here the last 1,5 month. Is the worst period after the world war two for Greece and the last four days the worst.
Before one month was my village and my region and my village in north Peloponisos and know is 4 more states that have destroyed almost completely.
Why? Who knows....The poind is that:
-2000000000 square meters of land destroyed completely(forests, and plantations)
-over 1000 houses are destroyed completely
-over 100 villages
-thousands animals (domestic and wild),
and the worst:
-64 people dead until now
-A lot of people in the hospitals
-Thousands of people without house, work, food, clothes ....without their life.....
-Enormous ecological disaster ,one of the most beautiful places on earth is dead....

And the fire go on......nothing can stop it

the photos below are from the fire in my state and the village i was born one month ago;

Thats why i had this title in this submition... but they don't kill only the nature.....

If you want to help inform the people you know about this..
Thanks

The sad part is that the fires are suspected to have been deliberately set.

Tragic, Greece is a favourite place of mine which I have spent many a youthful summer in. Money and profit are secondary to the preservation of our planet's nature, IMO.

I am so sorry for your loss. It is such a shame the world should step up and notice.

Tomorrow it could be California.

I'll be praying for you and your family and country.

Fire can destroy many things. But it can also cleanse the land bringing forth new life......wow that sounded cheesy....

I'm sad for your personal loss and your county's loss. Please take heart in the fact that life will go on. You will not be able to replace all of what is lost but nature will rebound and be beautiful again.

You're in my prayers

Definitely in my thoughts.

My best friend lives in Heraklion and she says it's just miserable. :(

I'm so sorry for everything that's going on. It's devastating.

I've been awe struck by the devastation that Greece has been going through and the thought of it being set by someone deliberately is just sickening.

Hi Antonis. Unfortunately in Spain we have experience in that kind of "accidents" every summer. But situation in Greece is terrible. We have many information about your tragedy on news. Very sorry to listen.

Regards from Spain,

Álex.

I see it on the news nearly every day.

such destruction, it's incomprehendable... :'(

The people are going about it all wrong. You are supposed to dump Baking soda on a grease fire. Not water.

Thats my politically incorrect joke of the day.

Why would anyone set that awesome country on fire. They were showing funeral marches and people were just going nuts.

Glad to hear you're ok. Living in So California my whole life, I've seen how devastating wildfires can be. And unfortunately, after the fire is out there's more even danger in the form of mudslides and floods during the rainy season. These are often more dangerous than the fire itself because they usually happen without warning. Hopefully you will have a light rainy season to allow the vegetation to grow back and hold the ground together. Take care and good luck.

Thanks all

The three main resons for every fire in every country ( California or Greece or ...)for me are these:

1) Some stupid shepherds that want to create fields for feeding their animals ( now they have the fields but they loose their animals)
2) From big stupid mistakes( here at least two fires began from people that used machinery for cutting irons in constructions near to plandations)...Now they loose and their constractions and the forests near to them

3) Money, money,money....Big companies native and foreign always want to invest in all these places that are burned now.Can you imagine the price to buy land in all of the places that have burned ? Much more cheaper now don't you think?
They have everything and they never loose.....

The terrorists have always better job to do than put fire in the Greek forests and villages....All the people with power always want to create fear feelings to us......

Please excuse my English
