Would it be possible to add a filter during allocation of Critique Club images, so that I don't get one that I already commented on during a challenge? I asked for one to critique today, and recognised it from a recent challenge where I had already left a comment.

This happened to me the last time I did a CC critiquue, and I longed for a way to push it back in the queue. That would be a good feature in general; it would be nice, if we don't have a lot to comment on a particular image, to be able to push it back and get another one, that's more "up our alley". Also, that means that someone who might have a lot to say about the image may get it next, which is better for the photographer.

I have had some that I commented on and, for me, even harder, some that I didn't comment on by choice and I felt that I learned something from having to do the critique. I am not saying the critique was helpful to the photographer, I don't know about that, but it taught me a lot. I needed to stay with the image until I was able to define what I wanted to say and then find a way to say it. I hope the comments were helpful but I know that that patience has changed the way I look at challenges overall.

This has happened to me a couple of times and I then go back, read my first comments, look at the shot again and decide if I have more to add. Everytime I have had more to add. I look at it as a second chance to reallys study the shot and give a more indepth critique about everything, lighting, cropping, composition, challenge fit, etc. If I have nothing to add, I just repeat what I said in the first place with slightly more detail. :)

It can be fustrating though at times

I've had several images to comment on that I've already commented on in a challenge. I usually don't put all that much detail into my challenge comments compared to critiques so it really hasn't had any affect on my Club comments... I've always been able to do a good critique anyways.

If you run into this problem, you can email me and I'll reallocate that photo, and you can grab a different one. Just to let you know, The CC is being reworked with a few major changes which should make it more enjoyable for everyone :) More details later...

I think it was decided early-on that it was important that CCers NOT be able to pick and choose which photos they review (that's what the Comments are for). The element of randomness helps ensure fairness. And as a learning experience for you, it's good to come up with something cogent to say about a photo that isn't up your alley. If you've already commented, it's also interesting to see if your persepctive/opinion has changed any, once you have considered the photo for a longer period, and with the additional info available.

I think having such a filter is not a so good idea. In case you got an image you already commented and that comment was about all you want to say about that image, simply say so in your CC-comment.
In this way the image got a critique from the club and you can fastly step to the next image, thus more images get a critique.
But if you would be able to reject it and the image would be given to somebody else, this image might get two in depth critiques (one before, one after voting) whereas another one will get none, because the critique-club does not get through with all critiques anyway.

I've found it helpful, as a critiquer, to re-critique the photos that I may have already left comments on. With the Photographer's Notes and other people's comments revealed, you might have a different take on things that you did when you did your original critique while voting. Also, I tend to spend 3-4 times the amount of time per photo when critiquing instead of voting.

Granted, two opinions from the same person may not mean that much to the photographer.....

I just re-read this... I thought you mean you'd aleady left a CC comment on it. If you've just left a normal comment, then please leave a CC comment too. If you encounter a bug where you leave a CC then get the image again, do what I said previously in the thread :)

Even thought I'm not on a CC'r. This is true. Sometimes when I go through some of the past challenges and come across a photo that I didn't understand where they were going I may give a comment after the fact.
