can anyone help me i want to get some lenses for my 400d it has the 18-55 that came with it i want a 70-300 and a good macro lens but i cant make my mind up on what to get at the moment im torn between the 70-300 sigma APO and tamron DILD and the macros tamron sp90 or sigma 70/105/150 i am more swayed towards the sigma there seems to be more pictures here from them than tamron as to what macro size i am unsure any help would be great thanks jamie.

I'm a Sigma fan but thats just my opinion. However the Tamron 90mm macro is a fantastic lens.

I've had my Sigma 105mm macro lens for several months now, and think it's the greatest! I am amazed at the sharpness of the photos I get. With the 105mm, you'll get good working distance in macro, and the lens is a very good all around lens as well. It has become my lens of choice.

I'm a Sigma fan also. But, I also own the Tamron 28-75.

What exactly are you looking for? Ultrazoom, standard zoom, macro, etc? What's your budget? Sigma has a 70-200 f/2.8 macro lens...........

I want a 28-300 in either one of these brands. That would be sweet.

I've had the 90mm tamron macro now for a month and like it alot as well this lens also does well as a portait lens as it's 90mm and not 105mm. But in general I really don't care weather it is the tamron or the sigma... allthough I like the colors on my tamrons better. This said Original lenses is for the most part a better choice I know this is the case for Nikon anyhow, but who can afford those if you want from 12-400 mm...

I use a sigma 105mm DG, excellent lens.

If you buy second hand make sure you get the "DG" version.
But a second hand 105mm macro for £200 and canon 70-300is for £400.

I don't think you can go wrong with the SP90 by Tamron ... you can check out a good review of it on Thom Hogan's site .. www.bythom.com

I got the tamron 28-300mm and it is great. so much flexibility for a walkaround.
They have just announced an "VC" (Vibration Control) version too, so are now playing with the big boys in the Image Stabalisation field!

No way! That would be cool, because I am a shaky guy.
