Here's a 13 gigapixel pano of harlem that shows Zoomify and Microsoft's HDview tool (HDview is in beta):

Too bad the clouds are messed up, but cool buildings and tools

It took over 2 hours to shoot (with a 300mm lens). Not much you can do to stop the clouds from moving :-)

Yep. Looks like it's about 146 images wide by 14 images tall (shot in portrait orientation). That's a lotta images.
There are a few stitching artifacts, mostly color/brightness transitions. Overall the stitch seems pretty darn good, but then again with a 300mm lens, the images would require almost no warping to match them.
Took 46 hours to stitch on a machine with dual Xeon quad-core processors and running 64-bit Linux. Yikes.

They could have used the Gigapixel Projects 4 Gigapixel Landscaping camera and did it in 4 shots J/k.

If you speak french, this forum points out some of the issues //www.clubic.com/forum/photo-de-13-gigapixels-harlem-comme-si-vous-y-etiez-t441845.html

If you don't, the same forum shows examples of ghosting, and naturally there was some guy looking in the windows for naked women, etc. (Perhaps he was just showing Bill Clinton?)

If you don't, just read the Google translated page here. It gets a bit funny sometimes though..
