Sweet stuff, Skip!!!

The stop action on those game shots is great. What were your settings? What lens(s)? Flash?

I have just finished reading the entire article. Fantastic stuff. It certainly gets across the desire and adrenaline rush of a photographer who has a dream. You should get this story published in itself.

i wish i could tell you, but they're trade secrets ;-)

iso500, 1/500, f/3.5. no flash allowed (except for the 2 university photographers that were wirelessly firing strobes mounted in the rafters. i think they were shooting a 1/200 f/18--insane dof). absolutely the most incredibly lit place i've ever shot.

almost every shot posted was shot with my 70-200L f/2.8 IS lens.

and thanks, judi, yak, and all the rest of you! glad you enjoyed it!!

fabulous stuff, skipper! you tell a great story that held my interest and i don't know how spending thousands of dollars more on equipment would get any better pics than yours...they're excellent! they look straight out of Sports Illustrated!

i'm so happy that everything is working out and you're living your dream. you're a sweetheart and deserve every bit of success you receive! *hugs*

Outstanding photos and great story to read. Are there more photos about the executive perks? Seems like that was the basis for the article, but I don't see many of those shots (saving them for publication?)

I can just picture you there, breathing in the energy of being at that baseline position, and feeling that rush of "I made it!" Of course, it sounds like you didn't have time to just staznd there and savor the event - but I'll bet the exhaustion at the end of the night was a great feeling! Congratulations on this accomplishment and thanks so much for sharing it with us! :)

thanks, judy, and yes, there's a bunch of stuff not shown here that's going to the magazine.

and sher, sigh, there will never be enough equipment...i'd like another mark with a 400mm so i could really shoot the other end of the court, and i'd also like another mark i could mount behind the backboard to fire with a wireless remote, and i'd also like the wireless strobes mounted in the rafters so that i could shoot at f/18, freezing the action and having the entire arena lit and in focus...maybe some day, but, all the same, i'm quite happy with what i can do today ;-)

Skip, I just gotta say how totally blown away I am with what you've done over the last year. You took YOUR dream and have made it into reality.

Great, great job my friend. I'm proud to know you.
