I have the 50mm 1.8, but I want something ELSE!
Either the 50mm 1.4 or the 85mm 1.8. Leaning towards the 85 mm, but not sure yet.
What do you suggest, or have you used personally and loved!
I want GREAT sharpeness and bokeh!

I've read (some place), that the 85mm 1.8 lens is excellent.
In some tests it beat 85 1.4 lens resolution wise.
After doing some informal research, that's what I am planning on getting.

if you have the 1.8 I'd say don't bother with the 1.4, It's just not that sharp of a lens and the DoF is almost too small.

The 85 1.8 on the other hand is a great lens and would give you more versatility.

I used to have the Nikkor 60mm f2.8 macro that was great and I also had the Nikkor MF Ai-s 85mm f1.4 A SUPER DOOPER lens, manual focus, pin sharp, I sold mine in Japan when i had to get the D2h Body for a sports job... I still regret it but couldn't be helped.. that is one of my next lenses to get back. On a digital body I feel 85mm is a bit tight for portrait work, the 50 is very good, try the 60mm macro, Librodo shoots with it as well as Kiwiness and Pedro I think.

I use my Sigma 18-50 most of the time now, even for studio portraiture its a cracking lens

The manual focus 105 2.5 is legendary. You won't get all the features of an autofocus lens, but it is spectacularly sharp.

I concur, I love my 105 2.5 AIS. And only for a $125 too, it's a steal. A bit long these days with crop, but wonderful lens.
