There seems to be a surplus of people wanting to join teams but a lack of people starting them. I'm completely new to the whole WPL thing so I'm hoping it will be okay for me to start a team. It says there will be a limit of 24 teams allowed to signup. If I start a team now and managed to sign up before another team, am I stealing their spot? Or is this okay for me to do?

So if anybody wants to join a team, post here and we'll form one up. Clearly I'm not the greatest photographer in the world, this won't be a super elite team or anything, but this will help put more pressure on submitting pictures every week and learning from it. I don't expect anything from team members other than participation and I will try my best to get something in every week (preferrably something good).

Let's rockkkkkkkkkkkkkk!

you are a better photographer than me - so if you are willing to take someone who scores less than you - sign me up!

I had thought about starting one called "Team Abstract" who's sole purpose was to throw off the voters with pictures that aren't so obvious. ha ha

Thanks for taking the lead!

I might be interested, though I don't have a ribbon...yet (might by the end of the week)

I've been looking to join a team, it is a great incentive and learning experience. This looks like a great one to start in.

If you don't have a ribbon yet, then it means it will soon be here if you just keep doin it, and you're skills improve. Well, that's what I will be doing in 2007!

I will be updating my portfolio this weekend, With many never before seen or entered photos.

I also have been thinking about forming a team, one which would be open to all members including newbies like me. It should be for people who are interested in competition, self-improvement, and having fun. No prerequisites for joining (no ribbon requirements or anything), other than a stated desire to participate on a weekly basis. I was thinking of possible names, such as "Bad News Bears" or "team newbie."

There's enough interest and excitement to form a team, and I'd be excited to join any others who have a similar goal... I say we do it!

I'm interested as well..
I don't got any ribbons and I'm 14.. So I hope that it depends on my images.. :p

I am a newbie as well - I entered one challenge to date. I think I would feel better about competing if the playing field was a tad more level.

How do I know if this team picks me?

Roll call needed, I PM'd the "Bird"

Okay, maybe you can list all the people replying to your forum.
I think we have enough to start a team. There is a diversity of ages, talent, regions of the world, and male-and-female. This could be a team "Generation Creation", "A Motley Crew", "Diverse Unity", "World Peace".

If it's a "Sunshine" Challenge, someone on the team is bound to have good weather.

Still waiting for a response from NerdJNerdBird.
I think he would probably be the captain since he started this forum thread. My suggestion is to choose the ones that have submitted to more challenges, not one or zero, since experience does count.

Diversity and enthusiasm is a winning spirit! I've seen it done!

I agree that Bird put out the call to arms and should be captain, and thus be the one to offer invitation to join the team. I was just making a list to try and expedite things since we have 2 1/2 days... (I guess I should say "there is only ~2.5 days," since I haven't yet been formally invited to join)

Edit: PS: I really like "a motley crew" :-)

You know, chances are that if we are newbies, we haven't entered more than one challenge... if we have found one to enter at all... I just signed up 2 days ago and entered the AA challenge... that's one. I haven't had time to do more...

If you don't mind that I have only entered one challenge, I say we get the ball rolling here.

From what I understand, we only have until the 1st of Jan to get ourselves together. And, we can only choose 7... if this is going to hurt someones feelings, we do have enough to split into 2 Teams. NEWBIE01 and NEWBIE02

I say we just split the list right in two and each team nominate a captain.

Ours (1-5 listed above), obviously, would be NerdJNerdBird...
6-10 should vote...

Our illustrious captains need to be awake and at home to sign us up at 12:01am Jan. 1st, 2007 so we don't get pushed out of a position.

Reply here with thoughts???

While I agree that there is nothing wrong with two teams, we don't know for certain that we have more than the 7 needed for one team. While you only need four for a team, having a full seven helps because if someone has a bad week the team can be carried by the top four. At last count 10 had expressed interest, but I don't know if that means that all 10 are ready to submit to at least one (ideally two) challenges per week. That's where a captain can help. I've emailed NerdJNerdBird, but haven't heard back yet. There's still time, so I'm not too worried, especially since this is a busy time of year where people may be away from home for a while, however at a certain point we will just need to make final decisions about team formation.

Hey... there's a freeagent out there ( glad2badad), and he won't last long. maybe justamistere will be willing to lead a bloodless coup and start formalizing the team.

I really like the name 'Motley crew'!
Am I finally on a team?
12/28/2006 02:06:24 PM · #24
I have also sent 2-PMs to the "..Bird"
I say give 24-hrs, or so, I don't check my email all the time.

What do mean about a "freeagent"

meanwhile...
all those still interested say Aye!, or just rsvp this forum within 24-hrs. please.

That means putting in the time and all out effort, that it takes to enter 2-Challenges per week. I also hope to share and recieve knowledge about photos and techniques.
