Post your outtakes from the Reflections Without Mirrors III challenge here.

I'm sure either of these would've done better but I really was interested on the feedback for the one I entered.

Even though it's the same theme, I like the constast between the two images. One more sharp and has contrast the other soft with delicate colors.

Original challenge entry

I received low scores (~5.1) but got very positive comments liking the shapes, tones, etc.

Outtake

I really wonder now if this would have done better - showing more of the bell rim from the horn - providing more non-reflective context to orient the viewer.

pccjrose, I really liked the one you posted and I expected it to do mch better than it did. To my eyes it was instantly clear that it was a reflectionons a brass instrument and it continues to be an interesting image long after the initial glance. The only negative for me is the noise, and it lost one mark because of it.

The funny thing about the noise on the image - much of it is actually due to the hammering and lacquer on the bell - the reflection is a little noisy due to the imperfections created by its manufacture. I suppose I could have tried some noise reduction on this image, but I liked the natural state of the image. Thanks for the comments - I will know in the future to treat the image a little more prior to submission.

pccjrose, I kind of like the outtake more with what you said "providing more non-reflective context to orient the viewer" working very well for the shot. Not always reading the title first but pondering the image first , the 2nd connects with the viewer without any need for the title.
