As you can probably tell due to my lack of submissions to either challenges or my portfolio, I'm in a bit of a rut. I'd love to get together with some people from Arizona, the Phoenix area.
Laura? Steve? Anyone else up for one?

No one is in Arizona...? I know Steve is in Oregon now, but did everyone move? :P

I'll be back in March, if you feel like waiting! :-P

Fall colors at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum should be starting in the next couple of weeks and the weather is perfect!

Kirbic: I'd be happy to go out again in March, that was fun when you were here. :)

LoudDog: I have no idea where, or what that is, but I love fall colors--care to elaborate?

DrAchoo: Ooh, cool! What brings you to Chandler?

Justine: I didn't realize for some reason you lived in Arizona, must be ignorance on my part. :)

My inlaws live in Chandler. We're coming down for thanksgiving.

Sounds fun! :0) It's too bad the Monarch Exhibit at Desert Botanical Gardens will be over by turkey day.
What do you guys think should we do it over the Thanksgiving break or should we have all the fun and leave Achoo out of it?!??? :0P
It's such perfect weather right now! Boyce Thompson would be nice too...

I'd leave Achoo out it ;-P

I'd love to take pictures of the butterflies again--different time of year means different butterflies!

So is it March? That works for me.
It would be great if we could set a date so we can get our schedules set. Lets stay south for warmth unless someone knows something 'hot' up this way.

sammigurl: yes, Prescott. Popped in when you weren't looking -two years ago.

Boyce Thompson is on Hwy 60 East of Phoenix near Superior. About an hour from Phoenix.

It's a great park with plants from all over the world tucked into a beautiful little canyon at the base of Picket Post mt (which is actually an active volcano!). Good place to shoot bugs, butterflies, birds and lizards too.

And, they have a gallary you can display in!

their web site.

Kirbic, be sure to remind us when it gets closer to March if you can get away for a day and go shooting!

We just visited a week ago, but we'd love to come back. Our youngest child is a freshman at UAT and his mom is suffering a little bit of separation anxiety.

I was thinking of going to Boyce Thompson this month. I'm sure I can join up just let me know when.

What do you guys think? Who has time either Saturday the 18th or Sunday the 19th to meet up? Post which day might work better for you if either?

Grrh. I'll try but having 'Thanksgiving' guest arriving about then. I really want to go. I'll follow the thread and if I can come I'll be there. Dang holidays- and living- in AZ- with good weather.

I have time! That sounds good.

Are we still on? I haven't heard anything new. :)

18th or 19th works for me. Fall colors should be pretty nice by then! (Note the BTA has a lot of non native trees so they peak later, sometimes not until December)

When we set a date I'll see if I can talk Wilson Wyatt to come along. He's a local pro that puts on a lot of fall color photography workshops. I think he's putting on a class the Sunday of thanksgiving weekend at the BTA. He's a great guy and a good person to know.

I can go either day.
11/10/2006 02:16:57 PM · #24
Well, I just picked up a wedding on the 18th which means I'm definetly out for that day but also I'm not sure about Sunday because I don't know how my hubby feels about being left with the kids for two whole days.
Who here likes kids??? Can ya stand em??? :0) (mine are quite good, but then again I'm the mom so you can't believe a word I say!) ;0)

Drove by the BTA yesterday, colors are still short of peak. Lots of colors in the Globe area though, so it should be close!

I can go Sunday (19th), I don't mind kids, and they'd probably love the Arboretum if they like the outdoors.
