A commercial photographer with some great skills.

That's quite an imressive portfolio. It seemed to me as if there were some weird things going on for what concerns DOF. Have a look at the portrait of the man in the pool - has that photograph really got two points of focus (face & wall in the back)?

There is no doubt about it. It is a "look".

What do you mean by that? I had the impression that the DOF might be artificial.

It feels like selective blurring to me in places as well.
Nicely done though.
Great range.
I really like the processing on the Salton Sea stuff.
Nostalgic.

I'm a big fan of Mark's work. Here is a shot of his Plungercam. Long before lensbabies were born :) Plungercam

Definitely artificial....I was basically agreeing that something "funky" is going on...either with a lens modifier or in post.

I'd be interested to find out how you could possibly achieve such an effect with a 'lens modifier'. I'd have thought it was physically impossible. Can anyone fill me in on this? (Kirbic? :)

He certainly has some talent. Nice link. What's more, he manages to do with a plain and simple HTML site what many fail to do with Flash and all sorts of bells and whistles. Steiner's photography is better exhibited on his web site than most. |
