So, in my last year at College, we were required to create a logo for ourselves. I got very mad when my instructor didn't give me a good grade, stating that the logo did not tell her anything about me.
Now, though, updating my webpage, I kinda of worry about it. So, give me your opinions, please? What does this logo tell you? What would you think if you saw it? What is it, anyway? Does it matter?

I appreciate any replies :)

If i saw this logo i would assume it stood for the initials H P ,or that it had something to do with those breast cancer ribbons.

Thanks, Corey.
A lot of people actually think it's an H. It's not though.. :)

Immediately I just see it as if it may be a monogram letter "H". Then if I stare at it a bit more, perhaps "J P". Other than that, I don't really get any "message" per se from it.

I am kinda with Corey...
I see a fancy H

We use a "lettermark" supported by the words and a marketing tagline ...
we sometimes use just the lettermark and tag line alone like on the back of the business card

It seems to be a piece of simple calligraphy, letter "H", nothing more, to me. I don't think it qualifies as a "logo", really. And it certainly doesn't speak to me about "you" in any substantive way at all.

H. HP. JP. H mostly.

Thanks, everyone..
I guess I'll have to come up with something different..(not that I use that logo for anything, but...).
It is actually the letter M, it's part of my signature (yeah, that's my M)...but it's not working for anyone besides me, hehehe
Thanks again!

I feel the same way, it looks like an H but if you look a bit more maybe it's a J P, but in either case I think it could use more work. It's not really eyecatching for a business and you want something that's going to grab people's attention. (just being honest)

Without reading the other responses - it reads JHP to me and it tells me very little indeed about the nature of the business or individual, about the style of the business or individual, about anything at all really. Grabbing at straws I'd say it leans towards the classical/ traditional more than the modern/ high tech but that's a stretch really.

I'd say your instructor was right.

Another advantage students now have over those of the past ... Now they can do a survey on-line and find out which logo to use to get a good grade :] ...
This actually looks like something I would make ... I do, in fact, like it .... I think perhaps something more 3-dimensional or stylized would be more effective. i usually go for something that can be looked at 2 ways and both make sense (e.g. pos/neg space).

I tend to agree with the instructor as well.
My initial (sorry about the pun) impression was that it was a Capital "H", (I do calligraphy) and is something I would expect to see on a hotel towel, or similar. Says very little in all actuality, especially if it is to be representative of a person.
Tough assignment really, and honestly never thought about what it would be like to do one, nor have any suggestions.

Again, thank you for those replies. The logo assignment was actually done more than a year ago, I graduated, moved on, etc. :) Now I want to have a real logo and was looking to get opinions on this old one, because I started to realize that, indeed, my instructor was right.
So, now this logo is out...I'm gonna work on a new one.
Thanks, everyone! :)
