Hey, I can't upload a file that is 720px on longest side. The challenge states that 720 is allowed this time in the August Free Study.

Does someone need to fix or is it me?

Thanx

double check both the width/height of the image and make sure it's below the 150k size restriction...

i'd guess, you're having trouble because of the latter...

I made a test picture that was 720px on the longest, 478px on the shorter side, and it gave me the error that is was larger than 720px

It is only 140K.

Uh-oh! Someone already submitted a photo. Since they've succeeded, the photo must have been 640px max. I can see comments right now: "Why didn't you use max allowed dimensions!?"

Hopefully it is just a placeholder that will be re-uploaded later...

I don't think I'll be voting on this one sadly, because I can't see 720 even with full screen/etc. Unless changing screen resolution will help, but I'm not sure the people I share the computer with are going to go for that. Oh well... hope people enjoy being able to use the larger size :-)

Do you use Firefox? They have a terrific "extension" called "Image Zoom 0.2.6" that allows you to right-click on an image and spin the mouse wheel to make it larger or smaller. Using this extension, you can reduce the image size sufficiently to fit it all in your window if you need to.

Oh duh. I actually do have FF AND that extension. I had forgotten about that completely as I have been using Mozilla. I'm on dialup so voting on challenges is HORRIDLY slow. I've actually been using Mozilla for most browsing recently, as there is a noticable speed difference (I have Session Saver on FF too and have read that it can slow the program down even more.

I'm really glad you reminded me about image zoom. I'm frustrated that voting will be even slower, having to zoom all the images, but I am glad that at least now I have an option. :-)

I'll think you'll see plenty of images that aren't maxed to 720 for various reasons. Plus, it's not a requirement.

I know you were most likely kidding some with your post, but unfortunately the sentiment put forward will probably be evident.

I just remembered the first challenge ever we had with 720 px. There were three sets of voters: ones that disliked the photos that used 720 vertically that they had to scroll to see, then ones that disliked photos that did not use the full allowed resolution, and then the ones that just looked at what was presented without a comment.

So, yes, I was partially kidding, but as with the previous experiment, I suggest to people to think twice about using 720 pixels wisely.

edit to add: not singling out anyone or bashing anyone that left comments, just wanted to point out that if you want to please everyone, here are some of the things you need to worry about:
(example of 720 vertical pixels)
(example of 640 px used)

Thanks Ben.

I've been around once in a while but not doing too well with the challenges. I guess I am always a little out of the box, or focus, for most of the crowd.

The site keeps changing but seems to still be addicting. Good to hear from you and good luck.

any update on a fix yet? I just tried to upload a 706x506 146.3k image, and it said it didn't meet the size requirments.
