Is there a way too see who is the oldest, been here the longest not age, registered user that is still current in challenges. Was looking at some registered users and there are like 1454 pages of them...would like to find someone who has been submitting to DPC the longest and is still submitting...that way it would be easier to see who is worthy of these gift memberships...but ultimately the gift will be given to whomever the giver wants it to be...so right on to idnic and all the others who have given generously.

Clint

None of the SC are registered users. They are all members.

The registered users start here and go in order from oldest to newest. You do have you check each one to find out who is still active, though.

Jim Sapp huh...has he ever been a member. Some are members for a while and then don't renew...wonder if he has been a simple user this entire time?

Haha...well I just looked through random photos of his through out his stay here and looks like all of them are basic editing so he probably has never been a member.

Oh yes! I just looked through his portfolio and I remember THIS entry of his:

He ain't big on commenting but he is consistent in entering!

Good grief. He's been here since the first challenge... Got an honorable mention for his first photo. 6 out of 9 :-)

What a legend. Good on you, Jim.

Some people would take that as a compliment but it's not really a good criteria for deciding if someone has ever been a member because there were paid memberships before Advanced rules. And there are a lot of paid members who choose not to use the type of stuff that would set their works apart as using techniques that are not available in Basic.

I would love to see one person who is a member and has never submitted to a members challenge...even if they thought the way you said they could still enter just not change their photo at all using basic rules with the ability to use advanced.

I am a registered user and have never been a member. I am not the oldest registered user though. I joined 1-19-02, my daughter joined 1-15-02. She placed 3rd. in the first challenge. She has recently started back entering the challenges. Her user name is zymara.
DP Challenge is a fun contest that I tell many people about, some do participate.

Well your daughter might be a few days older than you but I would consider you to be way more involved shooting for challenges with your 142 submissions to her 7.

Perhaps I misunderstood you, and if so I apologoze. I thought you were looking at his photos and judging that he did not use the type of techniques that are only legal under Advanced rules. If you looked at his shots and also looked at what ruleset they were entered under, that would be a better way to determine that he had never been a paid member after the time when Advanced rules were adopted. Before that point all the challenges were under what is now called Classic rules and registered users and members were all grouped together.

Kudos to jimsapp for being here so long and helping to promote the site to others. And to zymara for jumping back into the challenges after a long pause, welcome back.

Thanks, glad to be back! I just happened to work with one of the original founders of the site back in VA (Langdon), so heard about it right away. Looking back at the other early users, I guess technically I'm the oldest registrant to still be active on the site, but hands down, JimSapp deserves the credit for being most active through the years. :^)

Back when this site started, there was only one challenge a week, and one user type (no paid version of membership). It is great to come back and see how much DPC has grown (and thrived!). I'm really only a casual photographer, but hope to participate on occasion, now that I live in such an inspirational part of the country (the Pacific NW).
