a few users had commented on how the negative effect I implemented on the Desolation entry(below) isn't as striking as I thought it would be.
I've been thinking about a different presentation but can't come up with anything.

How about this...
Modified Image
I took the original, inverted color, applied curves to darken somewhat to create more mood, then also aplied a bit of desaturation (25%) over all colors

I personally dont like the inverted color stuff
I like this crop the best in normal color or B&W
I did play with levels and color balance

Inverted color stuff can have a powrefull effect, however those images never do too well. They have that "over photoshopped" look, which doesn't help your score.

I feel this picture would work better if you sharpen the fence and blurred the background more. It would feel almost like being in jail.
Kind of like inside looking in too. |

Took a little bit of each idea. I got this. I kinda like it.
