So David Blaine's been hanging out underwater since last Monday in the courtyard of Manhattan's Lincoln Center. The kitsch value was simply too high to pass on...

Actually, I was hoping to get some fun shots. Great opportunity came up when one of his photographers approached and he took off his scuba mask to mug for the camera... and then my battery died. Oh well :-/

I did manage to get this amusing snapshot before lights out:

Anyone else drop by and get any fun shots?

I agree. The guy's a tremendously talented magician and conjurer. Too bad he spends so much time on this type of thing.

Never really understood what the appeal was of his 'endurance' stunts...

Ok, so he's underwater... so?

Another one I heard of, he stood on a pole... uhhhh.... so?

weird dude. weird crowd.

I am not sure what the endurance part has to do with it. To me the amazing feat will be at the end.

From what I read, at the end of the period, he is going to escape from chains while holding his breath for something like 9 minutes -- longer than a dolphin can (at least I think that's what the article said). That's pretty amazing.

I don't care about him, but I sure like that fish tank he has. I wonder how much it cost? Wouldn't that look great in the family room with fish in it? :D

Isnt he going to Live on ABC tonight, trying to hold his breathe for 9 minutes or something?

Now I know exactly why I got caught in massive traffic while passing Lincoln Center, going down Amsterdam/9th Avenue last Saturday night.

...hmmmmm, so now I have another reason to dislike David Blaine.

This is what I wonder, if you take a bath for 30 minutes or even less you become wrinkled because our skin isnt made to be submerged for so long. Shouldnt he be a wrinkled mess? (or is that just a dead skin thing?) I also heard is hands and feet are going numb maybe that has to do with that. Also, how does he go to the bathroom?
There are also ways of breathing under water where people have perfected that thing where you make big bubbles then breathe back in the bubbles air.

I was making fun of it because its a 2 hour episode for 9 minutes. The sad part is Im sure ill be watching all of it. :(

Im a sucker

just my thoughts

Catheter for #1, not eating solids to avoid #2. Missed opportunity: Entering the 'DPC Cinema' challenge with the title "David Pees with a Catheter". Maybe it's a good thing that my battery died after all... :) Full disclosure: I'm not compromising anything here since I did not enter the challenge.

I'm not watching, so someone please PM me if he drowns or otherwise dissolves upon contact with the atmosphere.

misterjosh -

Tonight, you get my "full attention" award.
Not only did you answer my internal question about #1 & #2, but also you have also made me laugh the loudest about what "DPC Cinema" Challenge could cover!

Well done!

Cheers,
ralf
