If you receive a Critique Club Comment, or notice one on someone elses photo (or in the featured critique section for CC), that is inappropriate, or less than helpful, please report the critique using the 'report post' feature on the critique, or send them directly to me. I will deal with them appropriately.
These critiques hold a higher standard than normal critiques, and are labeled from the Critique Club. They should NOT be 3 or 4 word critiques, and should be addressing the photo, and not attacking the photographer in any way.
I recently found one CCer to be leaving 2 word crits, some of which were really mean, and have removed the Critiques from Critique Club status, and also removed the user from the Critique Club.
I do take the Critique Club seriously, and I will not tolerate people who make this group of selfless volunteers look bad.
Sorry I haven't been in the public view much lately, but I am looking out for ya'll.

Also, again, if anyone is interested in joining the critique club after reading What is the Critique Club?, all ya gotta do is PM me, I'll review your profile and comments given and get back to you promptly. You do NOT have to be a paid member to volunteer for this.

And on that note...I'm off to make a few myself. Thanks again guys...I really appreciate all the hard work you guys do.

Great stuff Heather. As you say, the last thing we want is people making the Club look bad - thanks for keeping them all honest.

Agree with you Heather ... its about learning for all both the receiver and the person making the critique ... it should perhaps be used that way ...

The CC wasn't very helpful to me yet. Had ONE comment from them on my very first entry at DPC and never again.

Why don't you consider joining? The reason you haven't gotten many is there are tons of requests, and not very many CC members.

Besides, you'll learn a lot more from writing those critiques than from receiving them.

I am now a proud member of the Critique Club. Also did my first comments as a member of the Critique Club.
I was hoping that members of the Critique Club might get a special little icon thingie as well (like the SC got - you know - this little clowns etc)
Dams - anyway - will keep on commenting.

Did my first couple of images as a member of the Critique Club. Loads of typing, but nice to say my say and share my extremely limited amount of photography knowledge:-)

Not for nothing, but shouldn't the Critique Club be the elite, the cream of the crop? I know I wouldn't want a critique from ME, because I am still learning the basics, of lighting, perspective, POV, color, Post processing etc. I regularly enter photos that score poorly that I thought were great- so what do I know? Just food for thought.

Think about it this way - it is not only the elite (cream of the crop) that votes and leaves comments. People like you and me also see, cote and comment. Our point of view contributes just as much to the rating of a image as the "elite"
Surely then the photographer would want to know what the general guy in the street (me and you) think of a particular photo.

I disagree , with a little effort we all can do critiques , it's a way to help us each other.

Critiquing helps the critiquer as well. The more you do, the more you see in your own photos and therefore improve, or at least understand why something doesn't do so well.

It will be interesting tonight to see the scores in the 48-hour Challenge for those who commented a lot. If it is a high scoring Challenge, we'll see if all that Critiquing/commenting helps.

My bet is that it is a really high scoring one...

It may be my lowest scoring challenge. :( Oh well the one I'm watching tonight is Photojournalism which will easily be my highest scoring ever. :)

as an art teacher, i always held critiques in class, the children would learn how to look, and comment constructively on artwork. whenwe started, i did all the talking. after a few classes, i did very little. critiquing is awonderful way to learn to think about art and consider in a deeper way. everyone should do a few critiques!

The way I give comments;

I tell the person what I like about his entry. Then I tell him/her what I would've changed.
This is easier with low scoring images. Most of the time a few basic things can make a MASSIVE improvement to an image. The 6 plus images - well, I just tell what I like:-)
