only in spirit. take lots of pictures and try to keep your lens clean from all the dust. I would have gone this year but I'm going to a wedding in Big Sur in September. Have fun!

Gemini,

You might want to check with Burning Man about the camera. My understanding (limited as it is) is that you have to have a camera pass and only authorized photographers can shoot. Something to do with a previous BM concerning the public nudity and such being photographed by some wanker and then posted on a porn web site somewhere. They supposedly cracked down on the photo taking to prevent some problems and issues that have been popping up with people not being able to "express themselves" without winding up all over the internet. While I may be mistaken it wouldn't hurt to check before you get there only to find out you have to leave the camera unused. If you do get to shoot let us know. The photo ops there should be awesome. . .

Very true, Seeker! You do have to have a Press Pass. They are more concerned with Video than stills, but the concern is the same.

here's a link to the "rules" regarding a camera.

I would guess that since you mostly plan on sharing photos with Friends (i.e. us) and Family, you don't have to register. *shrug*

I am jealous that you are going. I was invited and really really really really really want to go this year but cannot due to a previous committment. I've decided that I am going to go next year for my 30th birthday. I think a week of community debauchery is the perfect way to kiss my 20s good-bye. Woo woo!

Please please please post links to photos when you get back!

Rob

Discribing Burning Man is like discribing the insensity of color of the most perfect sunset to someone who has been blind their whole life. But, I will try.

Burning Man is an expariment in temporary community living which is based in extreem self-expression. It started over 25 years ago here in San Francisco with just over 20 peole on a local beach. They burned a 10 foot tall "Man" made of wood. Larry Harvey, the founder, has been doing it ever since. Now the attendance is about 30,000 and is held on the Black Rock Desert in Nevada.

Please go to www.burningman.com for more info as I do not do justice discribing it here.

Kinda sorta...only this is a week long event more akin to Woodstock. Less hippy-ish, less music ... much more art, much more pyrotechincs.
