Just out of curiosity, have any Istock contributers run into issues with lighting and getting a photo accepted? I've uploaded some beautifully lit photos only to get this response saying its haveing issues with good lighting! I'm under the impression that these microstock sites are highly automated (therefore it must be like shooting with your camera on Auto, crappy!). Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience, right now I'm still in the application stage. If you want to see an example, I can shoot you an email (I don't have a portfolio here with my best stuff).

I think they just click check boxes or something... I've had several declined on poor lighting and was like "WTF?"

Could be the case, and possibly with some lazy underpaid person just yawning and looking at 1 inch square thumbnails.

If you're just getting into microstock then the best advice I can give you is upload, hope, then move on. Sometimes there is no logical explanation to the rejections. You can get an image approved on seven sites and then rejected on the last. You can get nine out of ten from the same setup series approved. If you start trying to work it out you'll go insane. And most times you cant even learn from the rejections. So just keep uploading lots.

In my experience it is common to have photos rejected for what they describe as poor lighting when I think they look fine. I think what they are looking for are bright images, not middling or darker ones even if well exposed.
