I'm reading The DAM Book and following the book step by step. I use iView Media Pro2 as the catalog software and hardly use Bridge. When I convert the test folder from .NEF to.DNG files, iView seems not to preview the files properly. I found in previous post that:

"Use of the full-size embedded previews in iView was not implemented until iView 3."

I wonder if upgade to iview Media Pro 3 is essential for this matter or there is anyway we can work around this.

The other issue is not all the metadata is imported to iView. Although I Append Metadata to all images, some files doesn't show metadata, copyright in specific, in iView. Is that something to do with the version upgrade as well?

Are you just talking about files converted to DNG (previews) aren't showing up right?
I use iView 2 Pro and mine all show up prefectly and update if I change and save in PS.
Let me check what happens when I change a NEF to DNG...
The preview of the DNG shows up for me in the Thumbnail area appropriately. The Media area shows the original size so it has to be scrolled to look at, though, Unless I hit the scale to fit (under the little arrow on the top right of the window.

I decided to try Version3. It solve the problems. and it works fine so far, giving the fact that i've just installed new memories and an internal hard drive this evening. Next thing is to try new DAM system.
