I just has a look back in time, at my very first challenge entry (Cheese & Wine magazine). It's hard to believe I submitted it - it's waaay too soft and overall not very good!

This might have been done before, but it would be interesting if others too posted their very first DPC challenge submission and the score you achieved.

Yours is wayyyy better than my first submission. Mine was more of a 'jumping in feet first' just to get my feet wet.

My second submission was more of a serious shot and took me the better part of 5 days to prepare and set up.

Everything I did in the shot was for the first time, so it was a fantastic learning experience.

Apparently it was a "Does Not Fit Voters Tastes" type picture, but there was plenty of stuff technically that I learned about doing right or wrong. I believe I could reshoot it better, but my scorpion broke :(.

I still haven't opened the vodka though :)

I didn't know what I was doing, so I shot an abstract shot to call it "art".....Didn't work. Now I know what I am doing. 15 months has taught me a ton.

My first submission is still in the voting stage, so I'll come back to this when voting is closed.

Here is my piece of garbage..LOL. This was for the garbage challenge. I believe the final score was a 4.1 something. It came in 198 out of 208 entries.

I can see now that it wasn't at all an entry that should have been entered, but at the time I was so enamoured with it. LOL....The comments didn't see the garbage, as the mattress looks like a blanket from this angle, and many thought the dog's name was "garbage". LOL....

I have since had my averages much higher in challenges entered, and with quite a few in the high 6's range with one making 5th place, so I have learned a bit more about at least DPC appeal since last November :) Not bad for only around 5 months membership.

LOL - that's just a bad setup. I was laughing so I almost rolled off the chair when I saw it. I checked your profile and you have improved A LOT. But it's ironic to see that both your first submission and highest scoring submission were 'woodies' :)

Here's my first. Also my first and only to be recommended for DQ. I never did understand why. It doesn't look fake to me.

I didn't go back to check, but I'd bet someone thought the photo looked like a composite (specifically, that the angel was pasted in).

My very first was at the time the best shot I had ever taken. At least in my opinion.
