75% legs! :)

What's her name?

We are thinking about Solera. It has to be an 'S' name as her sire is Salto.

Aaaahh she is sooo cute. I love baby horse season. I am expecting my first one to be born about 8 March and then three more after that at about three week intervals. I love photographing the babies. Enjoy your new addition, I can spend hours just sitting in the pasture waiting for something to capture on camera and they normally reward you but their spurts are few and far between and dont last long LOL. She is gorgeous, I look forward to seeing more of her from time to time.

What a beautiful filly! Nice job shoooting in that stables. I'm sure the lighting was not the best, but you did great with it.

As for a name, why not try a combination of the mohter's name and the sire?

Thanks everyone for the comments. I plan on using her for dressage or jumping. She should be able to do either. She has a 6 yr old 1/2 brother (Thomas Edison) doing the jumpers here. Her sire is standing at stud here locally. He can be seen at www.desertspringranch.com
With her included I now have 5 horses. One more due next month.

Have you picked a name for her?

If not, I looked up a few names that might work:

* Samirah(Arabic) - entertaining companion
* Satinka (Native American) - magic dancer
* Serafina (Latin) - Heavenly, Winged Angel
* Sharvani (Hindi) - Goddess
* Shaylee (Celtic/Gaelic) - Fairy princess of the field
* Sienna (Italian) - reddish brown
* Skylar (English) - eternal life, strength, love and beauty
* Sophia (Greek) - Wisdom
* Sumehra (Arabic) - beautiful face

*sorry I was bored and thought I could find some really pretty ones. If you go on the web and look at baby names, you can find all kinds of pretty names.

:)Lorrie

*EDIT - Aww shucks! Too late!

Actually not too late. We have another due next month and will be needing 'S' names for that one as well. I will keep them in mind and let you know if the other foal is a filly or colt. Thanks for the suggestions.

Lori she is a doll, have posted some comments. I will be watching this thread too for updates. My first one is due 8 March but we have a feeling that she is not in foal anymore, good chance she lost it earlier in pregnancy unless she is just carrying very small (it is her first foal). The next one will be due end March and then two middle April.

Thanks for posting those.

New Pictures from today. Filly at 2 weeks old.

Filly and Mom in the top two.
Filly showing off her new teeth and filly running.

I haven't mastered the action shots yet. Any hints on capturing fast moving fillys would be great.

Lori our first one has finally arrived. It is a boy and he is gorgeous!! We have had really cold weather the past few days and expecting 6-8 inches snow tonight so I havent been able to get him out to let him run yet, he was born yesterday morning early. I have posted two inside sleepy shots as our barn doesnt have the greatest light and with it being so dull havent been able to get anything more of him yet.
