I went with this one for the free study challenge and didn't do too hot with a 170/513 placing.
Would I have done better with my other choice?

| I think you chose correctly. The flash has produced harsh lighting on the bat. |

In the upper half and near a 6 is not doing bad at all for a free study.
The bat is cool, but contrast between the sharpness of the bat and the bokeh is great -- all the while they share very similar tones. Very cool. However, I think you would not have done as well with it because the bat is not completely in focus -- it takes away from the sense of seperation from the background the contrast builds.

The bat picture would not have fared anywhere near as wella s the entered shot, IMO.

| Although I would like to have seen a little more light around the horseman in the back, I really liked the image you submitted. For my tastes, it is definitely much better than the picture of the bat. |
