I find when sitting at my computer sometimes certain music or songs will trigger an overwhelming desire to be creative. Anyone else have this experience? If so, what music does it for you?

I listen to country because it has a story. Like Darryl Worley's "Shiloh" or I listen to soundtracks from movies like "October Sky" something that is almost soothing and when I write poetry I have to listen to music.

It really depends on the mood I want the photo to have... Metal if I want dark. Booty rap if I want perky... I choose my music accordingly.

The only music I have is the music of the spheres, and it's in my head. Am I missing anything? :-)

I had to look at this thread, after seeing the title and noticing Robert as the last poster...

Lately, silence is what I enjoy the most.

Old, OLD black blues. I'm talking Robert Johnson, Muddywaters, Sonny Boy Williamson and Leadbelly from the 20's and 30's. They sing from the soul and always touch mine.

I like to listen to Classical music, at the moment I am listening to Mozart's clarinet concerto on the radio, I find it is good when wanting to create something with a mood or to shut the outside world out.

Thomas Newman's soundtracks... among others.

Basically gorgeous instrumentals that stimulate your brain without distracting you with lyrics. Instrumentals are more complex to compensate for the lack of lyrics. This stimulates your neurons more, without activating your language regions. It basically activates the areas of your brain you need to be creative, without distracting you with the areas you don't. It makes a world of difference. There's a reason they say to play mozart to your baby...
