My husband was raised around Great Danes and he said that they would make good matches for kids .Question is what about for me ?
I seem to have more problems with dogs than my kids. I am antsy and a little anxious and don't need anything else that is. The only kinds of dogs that we have had were miniature pinschers. I loved my Peanut.. poor long gone, Peanut, but he only slowed down with age and obesity. You see he loved cat food and chicken food and turkey food. And when we tried to pair him with a saint bernard... he gorged himself and ran poor Cleopatra off crying. So after some time and research I bought Duke... and he is my absolute best pup I have ever raised. He is mellow and he pees and poops outside and he doesn't jump on people and he and only gets crazy when we really want him to. And yes we know how big he is going to get... by spring we will be on 5 acres in the country. I love the thought of people not getting out of their car until Duke allows them to.

Your pup is sooo cute! <3

Great Danes are just absolute dolls. Although they're massive in size, they truly are 'gentle giants'. They're a very smart dog and take well to training.

Although their size makes you think they need tons of exercise; they actually don't. I mean, all dogs need regular exercise, but Danes are fairly lazy LOL. Well, compared to say, a Border Collie or Golden Retriever. Plus their coats are so short, they're grooming is so much easier then longer haired breeds!

They're really indoor dogs, and will grow depressed if they can't be with their family.

The only downfall of Danes are their average life span. Seems the bigger the breed, the shorter their lives are. On avereage they live to be about 7-10 years old.

We have a Great Dane/Lab cross named Jetta. She's 70lbs of sweetness and very loyal to us.
