I took this with my Panasonic FZ20 camera EARLY one morning. The sky was already turning blue. I thought it was pretty cool. There's noise in the background but keep in mind that this is not a DSLR camera and no special lens was used, only the zoom on the camera. I used noise reduction, USM and cropped it. I didn't think it was too bad for a point & shoot camera. What do you think?

I am wondering if you perhaps shot with ISO 400 or something for this?
Remember that the moon is actually pretty bright because it is reflected light from the sun. Under most circumstances, if you can frame it up fairly well, you can usually shoot iso 50 or 100 at 1/200 or 1/400 ish |

| I shot it with ISO 80 with 1/500 for the shutter. It was taken around 6:30am. It had just gotten light out. |

The pic is sharp, but why so much noise at ISO 80 and 1/500? I am curious because I am keeping a watchful eye on the Lumix line for a "convenience" camera. Thinking about the LX1 or Z30 when it comes out. I know noise is higher than other cameras.
Was it underexposed and then boosted in postprocessing? That produces a lot of noise on all cameras. So do long exposures. Or it could be settings. Are you using the "fine"-est settings for capture? Was it sharpened in postprocessing?
Can you post a similar crop of the unprocessed original?
Just curious....

Yeah the zoom is pretty crazy on this cam. Here's my attempt, from my bedroom window. By the way how many of you guys will be buying the FZ30? I think I probably will.

I used the noise reduction, USM & cropped it. The auto fix didn't look right, so I used the button that adjusts color and contrast. That looked better. Here's the original picture straight out of the camera:
