New butterfly:
There are MANY, MANY gulf fritillary butterflies around my yard since I have been growing passion flower vines. This is the first time that I have seen one coming from the cocoon. Its wings were curled up when I first saw it, but by the time I got my camera they were pretty straight.

too cool. too bad you couldn't get a series of it coming out...keep your eyes open for more and maybe you'll get it.

Nice colors in 2nd shot.

Isn't it cool how silver the dots on the wings are when they first emerge???

Thanks. I keep watching, but this is the first one I have seen coming out. I have seen a lot of butterfly sex though.
